I enjoy playing par 3's the best, but I score better on par 5's...sooo ummm my favorite will be par 5's.

I like playing them all but I'd probably say a Par 4 of around 320-400 yards. Nothing better than a decent drive of maybe 260 yards, then depending on the hole a 8 Iron or so onto the green and then 2 puts.

Par 3s are great fun but If I have a disaster on a certain hole that I play often, it tends to stay with me but there's nothing better than getting on the green and maybe being 20 feet away with the chance of a birdie if not a safe par.

Par 5s, My driving was awful near the end of the summer when I realised that my driver heel has a huge dunt in it, hopefully santa will bring me a new one but last few rounds I've been teeing off with a Hybrid off the tee so been losing some distance but managed on a 540 hole to get a par 5 from the 3 Hybrid and a 3 Wood, was very delighted with that.

I think they are all great fun in different ways, if I manage a Par on a long hole, I often look back at it with the joy of my scrambling and usually if over 550 I'd be doing that to make par,
A Par 4, I like the idea of being able to play different shots and hitting well, if I had a good drive then depending on the hole length either chipping/pitching on or going with a 6-7 Iron for that green.
Par 3s, as a High Handicaper it's a great chance to get another GIR on the list.

Par4's for me. They give a good change to play different shots and use different clubs. I have no issue with 3's or 5's but often find par3's a bit dull. Par5's can be great when they offer the risk / reward choice of going for the green in two, but too many modern day par 5's are so long that this is not an option. Just my .02

Par 4's first because I like to swing the big stick and still have a reasonable second shot for a chance at par or better. Second would be the Par 3's, you get a perfect lie on the tee box. The par 5's always seem to get me into trouble by trying to hit the hero shot. Have yet to have a look at eagle on the par 5's, I'm usually two putting for bogey or worse.

Par 5's.

They tend to allow me to play to my strengths (if I have any) on a given day. Some days I'm feeling "woodsy" and some days it's all about the long irons.

You have more options as to how you arrive.

You can unlock the hole with a daring strategy and still have room for error.


Yup....I like the 5's as a rule.

Me too, because when I can really hit my driver well, there is nothing more satisfying that bombing a long one.

I like par 4s the best. I don't try to over-reach with the driver. And after the second shot, I get into scoring mode. That might be trying to 2 putt from 70 feet. Or it may mean saving a par from a shortsided position. But either way, after two shots I'm usually zoning on the hole.

After that I like Par 3s. Honestly I find a lot of par 3s boring, but I think it is that lapse in judgement that makes a lot of par 3s so challenging. And really there is no reason for a bogie or better player not to make a par on almost all par 3s.

I like par 5s the least. I have had a tendency in the past to try to smoke a drive on par 5s. This is especially stupid given that I can count the par 5s I've reached in 2 EVER on one hand. I'm getting better at that as I start to realize I'm screwing myself from the jump if I use this strategy.

It's a close run between par 3 and par 5, but I think par 5 wins out. I like the rush of hitting a GIR and I don't really do that except on par 3s. But par 5s are my best bet to be bogey or better, generally. None of the courses I play have terribly long par 5s, so I should be able to reach in 3 even with just irons. Rarely happens, but I often find 2-putt bogeys, and those make me feel pretty good.

For me, the 100-150 yards difference between a par 4 and par 5 doesn't make much difference -- it's a 3I or 3W on my second shot instead of a 7. I think I score pretty much identically on them, and it feels better to be closer to par..

par 4s. Get to swing the big dog, and if struck well usually get to go with a 5i or lower on the second shot. Good thing for me as I am currently having trouble hitting the 3 Wood off the deck.

I like par 5s as I find them the easiest to birdie. They also allow the widest variety of shots. Which is your favorite and why?

Tough choice. They're all so fun to play for their own individual challenges. I think that's the fun for me, defeating the challenge of a hole. Walking away with an easy birdie or eagle no matter the par, is what I like. I love playing them all.

I always look forward to par 5s. Most are relatively easy to par, but can also put a nasty big number on your card. My only eagle this year was on a par 5, and the majority of my birdies are on par 5s. Today on the par 5s I went . . . birdie, par, par, par.
