Well I think I may have made my first parenting decision that is either going to be the greatest thing ever or a big disappointment. My son will be about 2-1/2 next summer.

Every time that I would go play golf this year he would say "Daddy go golf!" and he would sometimes after work try and pull some of my clubs out of my bag and attempt to hit a golf ball with them which usually resulted in him slamming one of my irons into the driveway. (and him not even being close to the ball)

Anyway, I just bought him the US Kids Golf Red set as a Christmas present. I can't believe how excited I am about it. Two images of the Christmas morning result are running through my mind either he will be super happy and want to play with it right away or complete indifference and on to the next gift.

I hope this is something that he will enjoy doing with mom and me.

Oh... and for the record my perspective on this is a family activity, he will have to decide for himself as he gets older what level of performance he expects out of himself.

December 26th ---> to the putting green.

I know of a 8 year old boy that competes in golf tournaments and started putting with his dad on the putting green at an early age also. if he see you putting on your carpet he will want to try also.

You did great and your son will thank you for introducing him to golf at an early age, remember the First Tee program is everywhere.

My son was 8 when he started the first tee program but there was a boy that was 5 years old and beat all the older kids in his class.

If you don't see a first tee in your location ask around because, the San Francisco First Tee program is not on the web site for some reason.

I have a 2and a half year old son who is constantly hitting golf clubs,in the house he is constantly hitting plastic clubs and balls, these balls do be whizzing around the place,he hits a real club outside with real balls. All he talks about is golf and watches golf constantly even if i'm not there. What a swing he has,all body and pure power, its just amazing, all my friends do be amazed watching him, doing his trick shots e.t.c,i don't force him or even teach him,let him do it himself so he will keep an interest. He has got a better swing than i.I will try and post a video of him,you will be amazed,i'm not just saying it because he is my son,if he was bad i would say he is bad.

This is the truth. My boy is 3, and 9 months ago he loved swing his plastic club, and then demanding we clap (an unintended consequence of watching The Masters with him

). About a month ago I got him a Snoopy iron and putter set, and he really isn't interested. Someday he may want to play, which would be awesome, but I'm not going to push him.
