Name the three training aids that have helped you the most.

1. Heavy 8 iron (purchased from Academy Sports for very little $) Has "perfect grip" built into it.

2. Medicus/Refiner golf driver. Helps with tempo the most. I don't believe that the Medicus/Refiner swing plane is for everyone, but this training aid teaches you to not rush the down swing. ie the tempo of the down swing starts with a similar tempo as the take away (slow).

3. Basic Yoga DVD. Bought at 1/2 price books for $5. Has improved my flexibility and muscle tension endurance greatly. New Years resolutions will include using this DVD more frequently again.

Swingyde is probably one of the best inexpensive training tools to keep your swing plane on track.

http://www.swingyde.com.au/

I was starting to lose everything left and after some video analysis I was coming way inside and flat. The Swingyde was able to get me back on plane and hitting the ball more consistent. I typically pull it out and use it during the beginning of my range workout, then hit some full shots with it, then hit the remainder of the balls without it. If you get the Swingyde it also comes with an instruction DVD that is also very helpful...not a bad price either, somewhere around $30 US.

An old shoe box that you set up even with your target line..... a couple of inches above the ball.

You would be amazed how much feed back you can get. It really helps for stoping the over the top move, or if you are dealing with the sh##ks!

I just bought this off ebay yesterday. Most people think it is a good training aid. I hope it helps me.

I've been using a Swinggyde during my lessons and picked one up to practice at home. It's helped me a lot, amazing how a cheap $2.00 piece of plastic can make such a difference.

This is a great idea. If folks are interested in flexibility/Yoga as an aid, and if you have the Nintendo Wii, then I also recommend the Wii Fit to supplement your workout. The games and exercises include many balance, coordination and Yoga type exercises that make it more entertaining and less like exercise.

1. A towel; put one down five to seven inches behind the impact spot to drill feel of swinging down on the ball.
2. A slim rod or dowel to use as a target line, keeping the body parallel to the swing path

both are cheap, portable and easy reference points that provide immediate feedback on a basic level

The Basic Yoga DVD I chose has Kathy Smith as instructor. This helps motivate me to watch and participate in the stretching program. My wife and kids sometimes exercise with me. Simple, cheap yoga mat from Wmart or Target helps to increase comfort level if wood/tile/marble/concrete floor.

hitting mat, hitting net, basement, reading every online golf magazine swing article, and time to swing until it feels natural and loose. Just reading consistently helps me to play better golf. I don't have time to take lessons every week or find a team to join and get coached every day so I need technical advice elsewhere. I found that if I read a lot about certain fundamentals the day before a round, I play much better. Developing my understanding of the physics of the game has helped me play better at a great speed.

I use Pelz putting clips and think they are one of the best things you can get. It will get you putting the ball in a much smaller area of your clubface, which will make your distance control much better, and it gives you feedback on where you usually miss (heel or toe).

I also use the Momentus. For me it allows me to feel the club in my swing, kind of let the club do the swing instead of me manipulating. Really just frees me up to make a natural swing. It is amazing how much better contact I get, which gives me better distance. When I use it frequently, I hit more of the shots where you absolutely know you hit it pure.

I like the Medicus Driver. Endorsed by PGA Tour Pro Mark O'Meara who is a big advocate of swinging the club on plane.

The thing I really like about the Medicus Driver is you can hit balls with it, even with the 460cc head.

It took me a few swings as I had some obvious flaws in my golf swing I had no idea were there.

Once I got the hang of hitting balls with the Medicus Driver (after about 20 minutes), my swing was no less than amazing.

I suddenly realized before the Medicus Driver I had been rushing my take away, now I'm giving my golf swing the time to develop into a powerful and repeatable swing.

Even my 13 year old daughter was hitting balls with the Medicus Driver in no time and she's a beginner golfer.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
