I started at age 14, 25 years ago, although I didn't play much (1-2 times a year) between ages 19 and 32. In the first few years of playing we didn't officially keep score most of the time so I'm not sure about back then. In the last 7 years my best 18 hole score is 75 (par 69, though) and 76 for a par 72 course. For 9 holes (regulation par 72 course), my best score is 36 (par). My only sub-par score ever was on a par 29 course a few years ago. I shot 27 (-2).

I believe this will be the year I go lower, though (of course I've been saying that for the last 7 years).

I started playing at the age of 8. Best score for 18 was an 80 [43,37] at PGA West Norman [par 72] at the age of 14. Best score for 9 was a 37 [par 36] on the high school team with a 3 putt from 2 feet away on the 2nd hole. Gosh, I remember that round like it was yesterday even though it was about 7 years ago. Sadly [or at the time, not so sady] I gave up the game shortly after that 37 and i feel like I'm starting all over again. It's only up from here.

I played for the first time when I was 13 or 14 and probably played half a dozen times before I was 18. I played another few times on a par 3 course when I was about 22. Now at 31 I feel like I'm almost starting over. It's been about 6 months that I've been back at it, but for the first time I'm actually practicing and trying to do it right.

My scores reflect this -- I'm usually about 52-53 strokes for 9 holes on the relatively easy courses I play. I think I'm on the verge of a breakthrough, though.. of course, that's the way it always feels isn't it?

I started around the age of 6. Was a 10 handicap when i was in 7th grade and ranked in the top 10 of youth golfers in the Kansas and Missouri area. By the time I hit high school I successfully burned myself out and stopped playing golf. Now, however, I have begun playing again (i'm 25) and the funniest part of all this is that my 7th grade self would whoop the crap out of me on the golf course. (im a 16 handicap now)

I've been playing for 5 years now. More seriously for 3 seasons. I couldn't slow down long enough to learn. Played Baseball all my life and golf just wasn't fast enough for me until I got a bit older. Now I'm a full blown addict, evidenced by talking about it on a blog. I usually only play 9 at a time. Put up three different 39's this year. This was my break through season. Got alot figured out this year after a few lessons and mucho practice...

Started playing 2 years ago. Personal best is a 69 on a par 70 which I did in my 11th month. Haven't been able to beat that though since. Kind of annoying, but then so is golf some days. :)

Started playing 2 years ago and you're a 3 handicap?!!!! And you say "annoying" about anything you're doing out there?!!! You need to develop a case of the shanks for a couple months before you can talk about annoying man...Keep up the good work...

i've owned a set of clubs for about 5 years now, but didn't really take the time out to study the swing and actually try to get *good* at it until about 2 years ago.

Started in college...played till married at 26, nothing special as far as golf..big hitter, thats about it, average around 85.

Divorced at 37, 2 years ago, play golf, when not working or with the kids, a bigger hitter , but now a good golfer in all aspects, putting needs work.

Best round is -2, probably around 10 rounds or so between even to the +4

That's still some legit scoring. How bad did you shank? I'm so interested in this phenomenon. When I shanked, it went about 15 feet off the ground, and sometimes as much as 45*-50* off to the left of my target and slicing severely. GIGANTIC misses! Very very odd considering how I hit the ball now that I'm out of that and even how I would hit the ball back then in between shanks. Just couldn't stop hitting the ball with the hosel.
