Mines pretty good I have off days with the putter, that kills me, I'm not a long baller averaging between 240-250 off the tee I play with guys who consistantly hit it by me 20,30even 40 yds but I win more times than not because they can't hit a wedge to save ther life.
Hows your short game stack up to guys you play with.

My pitching and chipping are usually pretty solid and have been for the last year or so. I made some changes in my stroke and it's made a huge difference in short game. I have always been a good putter, but lately I have no touch and tend to leave myself long second putts and thus end up with way too many 3 putts. I still make my share of long putts because I'm almost always on line, but they either go in or 8 feet past.

Amen to that, what I did was made sure I kept my putter on line but let the face rotate open just a little bit this helped to take some tension I did'nt even know I had in my hands out of my stroke. I realized I had that tension just putting around with my son in the house by accident, once I figured out how to get rid of it my distance control got alot better and my feel came back,so I could just get a line and go and if I missed I still only had a short put to come back on.

it could be better and it's getting better, slowly. my chipping around the green is usually decent. I'm having some trouble with my 80-30 yard shots; distance control. i just need to practice, practice, practice. putting is getting better also, but the almighty 3 putt rears its head too often. todays round was an indication of this: the front nine was horrible with 21 putts with 3, 3 putts and a few other short game mishaps. then i turned it around on the back-nine with 12 putts; 6 one putts with the help of a good short game around the greens. it just took me 9 holes to find my short game today. I'm still trying to find consistency somewhere.

i can make some pretty spectacular shots around the green, like little 60 degree trappers that stay low, then hop and stop or high floating lobs.

but, my best shot is a Pelz shot where i put the ball back in my stance, and do a little no-wrist chip with my 52 degree that stays low and rolls like a putt. It's deadly accurate.

Anyway, my short game is generally better than any of my partners and competitors. Now, if I could stay out of the trees with my driver...

Mine's on the improve but there's still a lot of work to do. I've been focusing most of my practice time and have got to the stage where it's not really costing me strokes anymore like it used to. Now I've just gotta keep at it until It's really saving me shots and I'm getting up and down instead of just getting it close enough for an easy two putt.

my 61* LW shots anywhere from 60-30 yards has been absolutely dead-on for the last couple years except for the last 2 rounds ive played...

it seems as ive went from tour-like performance with my wedges to really crappy in a matter of days.. i have no idea what has happened... and frankly, im starting to get aggarvated...

part of the blame lies in the rock-solid ground ive been playing on... and the extremely muddy grass from our constant rains... thanks to winter weather... but im not sure what else has happened.. im taking a video camera out on the course next time i go so maybe i can see what has changed in my short game swing...

my putting is somewhat average... i seem to be able to make the longer 15+ footers better than i do the short 3 footers. i dont take gimmies so when i miss the stupidly short putts it really drives up my score

well unlike you im a long baller average about300 :) and i have a good short game 95 percent of time within 5 foot its bcause its all i practice i love the short game i use a 56 for everthing though and the course i started playin is only 6100 yrds so its always driver wedge

Mine is absolutely dreadful right now, and its really dissapointing as the shortgame has always been the favorite, and strong point in my game. I shot 1 under for my first round of '09 on Saturday. I had five chances to get up and down, and didn't do it once... That's just unacceptable. I'll get it back though.

my short game is the weakest part of my game. I shot a 75 Saturday and I was 5 out of 10 in up and downs or only 50%. If I can improve that to at least 85% my score will be more consistently low. Today I practice my short game for 2.5 hours and will dedicate more time to practicing the short game.

50% isn't that bad. I would wonder why you missed more than half the greens.

I was just off the green on 7 holes. I believe that I could of gotten up and down on 4 more holes with a better short game. Below is a summary of the round played last Saturday.

7 greens out of 18 hit 27 putts (13 front) (14 back) 9 fairways out of 14 hit 5 out of 10 up and downs 75 37 front (3 boogies and 2 birdies) 38 back (2 boogies)

75 is a great score, but it seems like you could hit more greens. 9 of 14 fairways is great. How long were your approaches? If you're playing a long course, it totally makes sense to hit fewer greens. Were you using a putter or an iron when just off the green?

I used the putter 5 times and got up 3 out of 5 times. the two I missed, one was a putt that I hit too hard and it did not take the break and the other was using the putter from the sand trap and I did not hit it hard enough and left myself a longer right to left putt to save par that I missed.

I practice my short game for a total of 2.5 hours today and feel confident with my chips and approach shot from 50 yards and in, so we shall see this Thrusday when I play my next round. I have been playing well, my last 4 rounds : 78, 78, 75 & 75. I never put together 4 consistent round before, so I am excited and practicing my short game to keep it up.

Great job, those are fantastic scores. At your level, if you're not hitting your PW consistently inside of 20ft, that's where I would spend time.
