Hey Guys,

Just spoke to TM after checking their website today and they have on their already the ads for the new R9. It is totally different than any other club made so far. Here is what I found online:

In stores mid March.
retail street price: $399 (R9 TP will be $499)

The most advanced and finest performing driver in the history of golf club design per TaylorMade. The R9 will feature full adjustability in that it will combine 3 moveable weights with our newest technology-Flight Control Technology (FCT). FCT gives the golfer the ability to adjust the club head to affect face angle and loft. MWT and FCT give 75 yards of left to right adjustability, 3 degrees of launch angle adjustability, and up to 1800 rpm of spin adjustability. The club head can be rotated into one of eight positions, giving the ability to adjust from 2 degrees closed to 2 degrees open (actual measured face angle will be square to four open, though visually, 4 open looks 2 open to the golfer). This is done by a wrench and turning the club head onto the axis of the shaft. The three moveable weights are in similar positions to r7 Limited. The result to the golfer will be the ability to have an open club face while still promoting a draw, for example. It's really 24 drivers in one.

The club head has a large address, similar to the r7 SuperQuad, though we did not make this as large a clubhead as Burner, for example. This is, according to TaylorMade, the optimal size demanded by the most discerning players.
We are launching this on Tour at the end of January, though many of our Tour pros have been testing the club already. They have declared this the best driver ever produced.

The stock shaft on it will be Fujikura's brand new Tour platform, called "Motore" and it will be the only club in the market with Motore in the stock offering.
TP shafts will be offered at a $100 ($499 street retail) upgrade and will be assorted offerings from Fujikura, Mitsubishi, Matrix, and Aldila.
In addition, TaylorMade will also launch an R9 fairway, though the fairway will only have FCT, no MWT. It will also have the ability to use 8 positions and can affect up to 35 yards of left to right workability. This club will have the ability to go from 2 closed to 2 open. Retail price on this will be $229 and will have a traditional shape and have the stock Fujikura Motore shaft.

Hey Guys,

Sounds like too much adjustability to me, and i was never really happy with my r7 460.

http://www.•••••••••.com/taylor-made...er-taylormade/ Found this picture, do not know whether it is real or not,but i hope not, as it looks like a new limited, which i absolutely hate. It was like consistently 20 yards less than the d3 and the l5v for me.

I personally think you're best off getting a fairly neutral driver. You put roughly the same swing on it that you do on other clubs. If you slice your driver, or pull-hook your driver, you probably do the same thing with your 5-iron.

95% of people with TM drivers and movable weights set them and forget them. You may as well get them "set" by getting fit - and choosing whatever driver best fits you, period.

Reminds me of cell phones.......too many options that will likely never be used.

Get fit and figure out what you need in the first place and there's no need to be messing with it trying for a quick fix to every little hiccup.

I love my older R-7 quad, but I've never touched the weights.

I have to admit, i am completely and utterly fed up with taylormade releasing driver after driver after driver after driver. it seems life 2 months cant go by without a new driver coming out.

In recent memory these are drivers that taylormade have released or are soon to release:
r7 Superquad
r7 Superquad TP
r7 CGB max
r7 CGB max limited
Burner
Burner Draw
Burner Tp
Tour burner
Tour Burner Tp
r7 Limited
Burner 09

As far as i am concerned this si too many.

i do appreciate that if people are stupid enough to buy the new taylormade driver everytime one comes out, they will keep doing it, but do people not realise that it will not improve their game that much if at all!!

With regards to the R9, it looks like the R7 limited and sounds very much like the nike dymo that is coming out.

I would much prefer to go and have a club fitting and pick a club mathced to me rather than buy one that has 24 settings for me to ruin my game with.

Don't forget the R7 draw, R7425 and R7460 and the Burner '09 TP that is coming out in the next few weeks or so. Even their iron line is a little convoluted, the Burner XD, Tour Burner and Burner plus irons all seem to be the relative same design. Top that of with the 46 1/4" shafts at or lower than 50 grams and it's pretty silly IMO.

i disagree, people's swings change from day to day, with the r9/r7 the moveable weights are for making those changes on the range before your round begins. I think its a great idea, and i use my weights. AK said that some days he hits sw 125 and other days he hits it 95.

Congratulations. You're in an incredibly small minority: those who

ever change their weights. I didn't say nobody, and I stand by my original comment.

AK doesn't change his driver configuration or set makeup day to day.

Nice.....it's actually funny imo. I've not been of TM equipment so I may be a little biased.

I think its ridiculous, but used prices are real cheap so if I ever need a cheap driver...it's great!

I'm quite content with my R7 460. Honestly, I've changed my weights once eversince I got it. I didn't like it and set it back up for a draw. Like Iacas said, people usually set their weights and forget about it.

I think will all the adjustablity something else is going to have to give.

Yes, and you know what that is?

Pace of play. People futzing with these adjustable clubs on the tee box are just going to slow things down further.
