Staff or Cart bag?

I have an Ogio Grom bag, which has been very usefull for me. However, I recently bought a push cart (Bag Boy 600), and I am wondering if I should replace my bag for one that fits better in the cart an allows me to carry some extra stuff.
What is the difference (besides price/size) of staff and cart bags? Which one would you recommend? Why?

I have a Callaway staff bag and a Clicgear 2.0
I found that my staff bag and all other staff bags have a pocket on the backside. And this pocket is not accessible when mounted on the cart.
The designated cart bags do not have pockets on the backside.

Thats why I am considering the acquisition of a cartbag. Or a caddie for my staffbag

Staff bags do have that pocket that is hidden when it's on a cart. It's kind of a problem if you let it be. (You could put your stuff in the other pockets.)

I think that cart bags will probably have more pockets and dividers. They are probably more functional. Staff bags seem to allow for the clubs to be tangled. It's quite annoying. Staff bags are just so much cooler, though.

I would get a simple cart bag. Cheaper and does the same job (maybe even better).

i like the looks of staff bags, and i own several of them, but cart bags are the way to go when riding. they're much easier to handle to and from the cart. most staff bags are similar in regards to pockets, etc. you can get A LOT more options on cart bags

I sorta like both.

I may be getting a staff bag this year. There is no substitute for the room. I don't play oversize grips and I only carry 14 sticks but sometimes I fight like heck getting my irons pulled outa my current bag when riding.

A large staff bag would be sorta nice.

I may try to get one through my employer with their logo on it....at a low low price.

Just get a cart bag, lighter more pockets and more practical...how many weekend warriors do you see with staff bags???

Yeah I have a cart bag for when I ride with my dad but until I'm a + handicap with an endorsement I don't think my ego is big enough to game a staff bag, as a collectors item, well that's another story.

I have a beautiful red, white, and blue Hogan staff bag that holds some favorite old clubs as a decoration in my den.

For an actual pratical gamer, however, the Ogio Anomaly cart bag is the best bag of any kind that I've ever owned.

This behaves pretty well on the pull cart as well as an electric cart. Every now and then clubs will get hung up inside it and you have to work 'em loose. I suspect that I may have dropped something down in the bag that's causing these very infrequent jam ups.

Overall, it's been a super bag.

I always liked the old staff bags because of the huge pocket on back (shoe pocket is what I guess it is). You could carry just about anything and everything in there (a lot of beer and ice). But that pocket is in the wrong place for push carts. I have carried cart bags for the last several years because the carry bags do not seem to sit very well on push cart or riding cart. Most cart bags are great on push cart, though, with all pockets accessible and they don't want to twist around like carry bags.

I'm fat, lazy, and ugly too! And, as a fat, lazy ugly American I can, and do use the biggest ugliest American Staff bag I can find (I'd use Rodney's if I could find it).

I love my staff bag. There are pockets for everything, and room to spare. The only pocket I cannot get to when I'm riding in my fat lazy E-Z GO golf cart is the tiny flat pocket just above where my name SHOULD BE! I play every weekend, and I use my fat lazy ugly staff bag, and so do a lot of my fat lazy ugly American friends. The only thing I DO NOT have is my name on my staff bag, because I am still just a weekend warrior! Cart bags are very good, and serve a useful purpose. And if you are so inclined, they will make the game more enjoyable for you! Have fun!

Don't sell yourself short.....you most likely have many years to evolve.

lets not get distracted by what i said in the first sentence of my post, you guys arn't getting the point. What i said was i walk alot so i have a stand bag. I would not suggest getting a staff bag, because cart bags are lighter, pockets are more acessable when on a cart....because after all thats what they are ment for, and far more practical than any staff bag. I also said that i would never use a staff bag(unless my handicap drops 10 shots), because those are ment for the pros. The thread starter also asked what bag is easier to use when on a push cart, the answer is ovbious that its a cart bag.

Understood....I was just poking at you anyway....no offense meant.

Another really cool thing about stand bags that does apply to most everyone is when you are practicing at a range. The legs deploy nicely and present your clubs easily as you work through the bag warming up. I also know a lot of guys who store their sticks whith the legs deployed...very stable. The leg systems on today's bags are so much better than the first attempts. These are lighter yet much stronger and almost automatically deploy when you set the bag down and lean it over. Very important, too, is the fact that the legs retract immediantly upon shouldering the bag. My last stand bag sucked outright because it would let the legs hang down and create problems as you were walking. I also argree with you, Pshizz, that I'd not feel comfortable with a big blinged out staff bag. Don't get me wrong, I'd love the roominess of it...especially this time of year when sweaters and golf jackets are constantly coming off / on and need storing......but.....I'd be self concious that my game doesn't measure up to the "big bag guys".

      Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.

      Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group.       I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
