How long does your oil can/black nickel Vokey wedges last?, Feel comparison?

I am also planning to change my wedges this season because I have been using mine for 2 years and the grooves are starting to wear out.

I can see that my chrome wedges last me about 2 years.

So how long can I expect to use Oil Can or Black Nickel wedges?

Is Oil Can softer feel compared to Black Nickel or they are about the same in terms of feel?

ok, the finish will start wearing off almost immediatly on both. The oil can will rust pretty quickly and give you even more spin. I have had mine for about 1 year, and am thinking about buying a groove sharpener, but i play and practice a TON, so thats just me. The oil can is a very soft feel, definitely softer than the Chrome finish; however, I ahve never hit the Black Nickel since they just came out. Hope that helped you out a little bit.

We have had the discussion of rust affecting spin so many times. I heard that oil cans' grooves last as long as the chrome ones but others say different. As for the black nickel, not a fan myself but it is good for stopping glare

There is no difference in feel from chrome to oilcan/nickle and rust does not give you more spin.
The grooves are what give you spin, not the rust.
Ive owned both chrome and oilcan Vokeys and there is no difference in feel or amount of spin.

But couldn't the rust act like the tiny grooves put into the spin milled wedges? Makes sense to me. That said, being that the rust will appear naturally and not be consistently applied (like the spin milled smaller grooves) I could see where it could be somewhat unpredictable to hit and really know what your result will be.

I know for a fact that rust DOES NOT give more spin. Could we just go back to my original topic of the feel department instead of discussing about spin/rust issue?

I was just wondering why black nickel/chrome can only be bent 2* but oil can can be bent by 4* as stated in Titleist site. This is the reason I was wondering if oil can is softer in terms of feel.

Nope. Tests show that a rusty wedge doesnt spin the ball any more than a non-rusty wedge.
Infact, a rusty wedge will cause inconsistent shots.

I would assume it is because of the way the finish is applied. Both the Tour Satin and Black Nickel are plated and so I'd assume they can't be bent too much without damaging the finish. I'm not sure about feel though, I'd assume its almost the same and the difference would be indiscernable.

I imagine you could probably remove the chrome finish with some sandpaper, but I dont see why youd want to go to the trouble.
I dont notice much of a difference in glare from chrome to raw/oilcan/nickle.
