What do you bet they will now be over $50 per dozen street price at the large discounters.

They won't be... $45 is about the going rate and that's highly likely to continue.

I wish they'd market their line as well as Bridgestone does. Titleist makes super balls and used to have clear choices amoung it's product line.

Bridgestone takes the confusion out of ball-fitting. An average person can walk up to a display of Bridgestones and pick out the "best" ball for him from the line up with ease. Other manfufactures would do well to follow.

I don't think Titleist can be accused of marketing poorly relative to Bridgestone. I realize you are wrapping that statement into the one below, but taken alone, it's a silly statement.

Bridgestone takes the confusion out of ball-fitting. An average person can walk up to a display of Bridgestones and pick out the "best" ball for him from the line up with ease. Other manfufactures would do well to follow.

That's one take. Another is that, if people are confused and just buy the $45/doz balls rather than the $25/doz balls they'd "fit," that's better for Titleist.

Besides, I disagree that Titleist's ball lineup is any more or less confusing than Bridgestone's. They have three lines with a higher spinning and lower spinning model in each. The Bridgestone has three lines, but with three models in two of them and one (TreoSoft) that stands alone. Titleist's lineup (six balls) thus makes more sense to me than Bridgestone's (seven balls).

I'm pretty sure your wrong. Scroll down and check out the msrp, it says 58.

In the actual press release that I posted it says the following:

"...with a suggested retail price of $58 per dozen (MAP: $45.99)" I am assuming that MAP is "Manufacturer Actual Price" or something along those lines. The suggested retail price is almost always considerably higher than the actual street price. Either way, it's too d@mn expensive, though.

According to it's better and longer than ever.

Every year on every new product that comes out its - obv. longer, straighter, better...

I believed this in my 1st golf season, i grew skeptical somewhat in middle of the 2nd season, and i realized by now, that when my ball goes right, it will go right with the new ball, and the next generation ball, and the newest driver and so on. And until there is a new revolutionary breakthrough in R&D; it pretty much is the same product every year with some new "gimmicks". I read in a golf mag a couple days ago, that development of really new products (in that case particulary golf balls) is actually limited, not so much by the technology available, but by the patents on this ideas/technology, that all these different companies hold. And so, it would be almost impossible for e.g. Acushnet/Titleist to develop a complete new ball without getting into a lot of patent trouble with other ball producing companies, as the past has shown.

Probably the only diffrence us average Joe's will see is the sweet new packaging, especially on the X. Im kind of dissapointed that they did not make a dramatically new side stamp, not that the old one was lacking, but I really like to use the side stamp to line up putts, and an inovation on that side of things could really help my putting

Also how about they start giving away the scotty ball markers with each purchase :)

Again, st0w, please don't interject when you're just guessing.

Last year's models had an MSRP of $58 too . They'll sell for the same $45.99 (or $39.99 on occasional special) that the current models fetch.
I am assuming that MAP is "Manufacturer Actual Price" or something along those lines.

Minimum advertised price.

Again....I really like most of the Titleist products that I've tried. Be it silly or not, my opinion of their current marketing remains.

Very simular remarks could have been made about Bridgestone two years ago....but they've helped cleared things up for "the average consumer". It's a moot point anyway....The ProV1 ball is still the benchmark that most everyone is trying to grasp.....the great golfers I know play them and the rest of us want to validate our games by believing we are "ProV1" ready, too. Again....just my opinion...which is developed after years of playing golf with average Joes and the occasional exceptional player.

I would have to agree with you.IMHO Bridgestone does a better job by putting the differences in the balls on one chart.

Although, being a*s-deep in snow, I haven't tried the new Pro V1 yet,

I can honestly say that I found the previous one to be a very good golf ball.

If I had found it to be any better than my $20 / doz. Top Flite Gamers, I'd have considered buying it. For my game, at least, it wasn't.
