I do not plan to change my golfing routines, but everything is subject to change based on circumstances. I'm hoping some courses may lower prices to increase play.

I hope not, I will spend more time looking for deals on green fees. I have not been able to go on a golf trip for the last couple of years and was wanting to begin going again but will probably wait another year.

It has certainly changed my golfing routine.

No longer do I set up rounds all over my home area with friends. It's too expensive to play various courses.

I've been playing only my home course since October....and walking a good bit more than before.

I've curbed my old habits of experimenting with different clubs....I'm working within my set and hanging on to them.

I've cut back on ball expense without sacrificing performance.

Bought cheaper shoes....doesn't payback here as they wear worse.....still struggling finding the "right" pair. The manfs change styles so dang often.

Assuming that I dont lose my job, my routine wont change. Theres other things I have cut back on, but golf isnt one of them.
I'll cut back the number of times I go snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin and the number of times I go out to eat or to a movie or to the bar before I cut back on golf.

I'll probably golf more. Things have been a little slower at my business so I have more time and I think there will be some great deals out there for destination golf. So I think I'll probably play the same ammount of rounds but at more courses.

We have to spend down our vacation balance quite a bit this year, so I will have more time for golf. So I was going to play more. My home course announced zero increase in fees which is nice. Also, if I play more I might pay for the discount membership (you pay some $500 up front but each round is then $7) if you play 25 rounds or more you start saving money.

Nope. I'll still play the same round every 3 months like I normally do.

I havent really changed how many rounds I play. Gas prices are the one thing that makes my golf routine change. I have stopped driving to the farther courses I play at and have played the closer to home courses usually. I also dont practice as much as I used to.

I did a Coaching Program with a Pro last year that cost me about $650; I was going to continue with another series in the Spring but I am now reconsidering. As for playing, I'm going to try to play more; I pay about $160 a month at my home course, so if I get in lots of rounds instead of playing elsewhere or doing other things, it ends up being pretty cheap entertainment.

I'm thinking about getting a season pass at my local municipal course. It seems like a pretty good value. It would probably stop me from playing a wider variety of area courses, but it would save me some money, and that's important.

Not a chance. I'll give up something else before I give up any part of my golf routine.....i'm afforded that by being single.

I've already retooled my bag and am stocked on balls. All that's left is to pay for my membership and leagues, a golf trip or two or seven....

Oh yeah! I have effectively lost my job but I still have a few years of expenses put away in the bank. I have been spending 3 hours a day at the range every day and I now play 18 to 36 holes at least 4 times a week.
The economy has definately helped my golf! I hope I still have a house in 3 years.... Priorities Man!
Cheers!

some clubs are under severe strains. will you play less golf?

As I wrote in another thread, last year I analyzed how much golf I played at my home course, which is a public one, owned by a nice Dutch family. Even though a season's pass is only $450, I decided not to buy one. It turned out to be the right choice. I played there 12 times---9 holes each time--@ $10 a round===$120. In the meantime, I continued to play at various other courses, but reduced that amount of play and saved another $200. I use my home course as a practice course anyway, in order to prepare for tournaments. Finally, I reduced my practice expenses, by working out in the backyard or a nearby soccer field. I hit plastic balls, and went to the driving range only twice---both times with my 4 year old granddaughter. Total savings==20 times @ $7=$140. Total savings for the year===$670. Now, I have to convince my wife that I can spend $450 of the $670 to buy a used set of Mizuno irons!! Wanna bet if I can convince her?

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
