Can You Recommend A Good Putter To Improve AIMING?

I have an Odyssey 2 Ball White Steel Putter-I bought it because I have terrible trouble aiming my putts. I seem to aim right of the hole a good inch or 2 and pull the putt back. I also aim badly right on general golf shots. Ive improved my shot preparation to stop this-but still have problems with it when putting. I have a 2 Thumb grip that has improved my lag putting-but I still struggle to hole stuff and struggle with 3-4 footers-so I don't have a confident strike at gettable putts fearing I will leave a tricky 3 footer.

Can anyone suggest a good putter for lining up putts? i was thinking of going to a Sotty Cameronm they just look nice! The 2 ball is ugly and since Im useless with it...

Any ideas would be appreciated. Im considering Ping, YES, odyssey too

I'd suggest taking a look at Guerin Rife putters. For me their lie-alignment notch helps a ton. It keeps me from getting lazy and letting my posture go to hell, which often leads to my pushes or pulls.

I'm biased, but I think they're the best putters out there.

The putter that helped my alignment and stroke problems is the Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom center-shafted model. It has a built in alignment aid that really helped me fix my stoke. This is the best picture I could find (without looking too much):

The 3 dots behind the shaft help because you are supposed to keep them hidden through the entire stroke, which helps you grove a stroke without opening or closing clubface too much or at wrong times. If nothing else, it's worth a try. I picked mine up used after just playing with it at Golf Galaxy and realizing how much it was helping my stroke.

Here is a review of the Futura Phantom from a little known website that sometimes does equipment reviews:

I greatly improved my alignment and begin to drop a lot more 4-8 footers with a Ping G5i Craze-E. If you like Ping, I'd at least give it a try. It comes in several hosel types and finding the right one is truly the key. You might prefer one of the other/newer Pings but in the same Craze-E head style.

Do not forget to get the proper length shaft, and just as important is the proper lie. Ping has an amazing but simple putter fitting tool. You can determine you proper length and lie in a matter of minute or two. Whatever you go with, I can't stress enough the importance of a proper lie. I ordered mine at 4* flat and still feel comfortable with this putter 3 seasons later.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. The rife and futura look good to try. I tried a sabre tooth already, I actually thought it was one of the best putters I have used. Very fluid-I guess the high MOI they keep hammering on about does work with that thing. For me the lining up is key-I think I have some kind of brain disorder, its unbelievable how much right I aim sometimes. The rife bars look like they are worth a go.

Im not gonna make the mistake of aiming for the hole in a shop-those greens are definitely rigged. Im Ben Crenshaw and Tiger combined with all putters in shop. Get on the course and its back to me!

I used to have the exact same problem as you. After trying many putters I went with the White hot xg 9 with a 33" shaft. It really has helped a great deal with aligning short puts. Also, I'm not sure what length shaft you use now or how tall you are but also try a shorter shaft. I used to have a 35" shaft. It was way too long for a 5'8" person.

Seemore FGP. their alignment system is top notch, TOP NOTCH! i used one for the first time recently and drained a 30 foot birdie, and holed two 15 footers and a 12 footer to save par. im thinking about buying one now

I suggest two things, try the Never Compromise z/1 Alpha 2 but I also think its not the arrow but the Indian.

Watch some basis putting videos and you need to correct your putting technique in my opinion. A good putter can putt with almost anything.

I've seen people use thin strips of tape on top of their two ball putters to aid with alignment.

Take a look at the putters on Dave Pelz's website. They look like regular two and three ball putters with this alignment aid on top of the "balls".

My YES Olivia lines up like a dream.....can't miss the line with it.....there is just a little thing called distance control to contend with.

Those Futura Phantom Scottys are nice...as well as the current production RED X 5 and RED X 3 models.

I like the PING Craz-E mallets (spelling) as well.

I recommend the Odyssey Marxman. I have the Mini Marxman and the white alignment aid really helps me line up putts, like looking down a railroad track.

Great putter, I would definitely recommend.

I agree. Sometimes, I block putts out to the right when I hold off the release. This made me aim too far left to compensate. When the toe released, I would feel like I just pulled a putt because I was aimed left. If you fix your stroke, your alignment will instantly readjust. It's all in the mind. Your stroke is causing bad alignment, not vice versa. I recommend that you fix your tendency to pull putts, and then decide whether or not you need a new putter.

U are right-I used to have a very poor stroke and learned to aim right to compensate. I have now improved my stroke but have developed this natural tendancy to aim a little right.

I agree with the comment about it being me and not the equipment. Its so true golfers just look for quick fixes and are too quick to blame their tools. Its just I have done a lot of work on my putting over winter and havent seen any improvement in aim. So Im thinking maybe a putter designed to help that aspect of putting might be worthwhile investigating. I was interested to see if anyone here had found a particular putter had improved their aiming problem, similar to mine. I have a few good suggestions now. I'll probably look at the Cameron Futura and Odyssey Sabertooth & Marksman first. My pal has a Ping Craz E-I'm not over keen. Anyway I have to get something better than him, right? Ha

Also, if you are interested in Scotty Cameron, check out the Detour.

Rife 2 Bar Hybrid. Great aim line and super balance. Very easy to line up, and the balance wants to square the putter at impact for me. Lovin it!!
