Just wanted to give some good feedback to the customer service at Zelocity. I bought one of their PureContact radar gadgets recently. I had some questions about how the unit worked and how the environment affected the calculation. Mike and Ken at Zelocity both went way beyond my expectations in their response. Their reply was quick and their answers were detailed. They wanted to ensure that I was happy with their product.

In these tough economic times, it's nice to see companies go the extra distance for their customers.

Norm,

So far from what I've seen, the carry distance is very accurate on clean shots. The total distance will give you a decent estimate but it's not really made to determine the roll variability. The guys at my pro shop compared it to their Trackman and said it was pretty accurate.

One thing to keep in mind is that temperature, hitting surface and ball type all have an effect since the PureContact uses ball speed to determine distance. We're still hitting off mats here and you can tell a big difference in distance. This is pretty neat though because you can really test out different balls assuming you're on a real hitting surface. I have the 3.7 Firmware version. The new 5.1 is supposed to be even more accurate.

One recommendation I have is to make sure you use a good 9V battery like Duracell. I tried a knock-off rechargeable battery and kept getting inconsistent readings. I switched batteries and it cleared it up. Zelocity mentioned this in their response.
