I know there is suppose to be another show coming from PEI, but is anyone actually missing this show? I have had enough of it. It doesn't seem to change much, BUT it is nice to see some of the pros from the show actually making a name for themselves (James Nitties, Tommy Two Gloves, etc).

Just interested to see what people think.

I got tired of the team one and stopped watching after a few shows. I'll probably watch this one, but I don't know if I'll make it past the first few again.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I have watched the past two seasons and some of the one before that. I DVR'd the past two seasons and was really into Mesquite, but I still haven't watched the final two episodes from last season. I would be ready with my remote to set the timer if there is another season of one-on-one competition.

I think Mesquite nailed it with the format and quality of players. Then Kaanapali backed it up for the girls. The team one, I watched it, but wasn't overly enthusiastic about seeing one team win. The $100,000 challenge should be interesting, but that's not really a "big break". Although $100K is a nice prize.

I totally forgot about Ka'anapali and I think that says a lot about how interested I was in it.

I would watch it if they changed the format. There is too much emphasis on ridiculous shots and not enough straight golf. They have also expended the variety of players. I also find it very sexist; the bottom to top shots of the gals and the peek-a-boo angles of the gals shots is definitely not about the sport. It also takes way too long to finish; they could cut the weeks by a third and it would be more intersting.

I would agree that I enjoyed the shows with the one-on-one competition more. I think that the second challenge they did on the very first show was the best challenge yet (I think it was the second challenge). They had a par 3 and it was at night and right before the players shot they turned out the lights. I think that would be a really neat challenge to actually partake in...besides breaking the glass of course.

I definitely prefer the one gender versions, and individual not team. Other than Dave, Big Break Michigan had too much fluff; "...that's okay, don't worry about it. I'll pick you up."

One problem with Michigan was one of the most talented teams was eliminated first. James Vargas has quite a bit of game and a great junior resume in the Miami area, but he really bombed on the show, pulled irons into the bunker during elimination. I don't know if anyone noticed, but Vargas managed to Monday qualify last week for the opposite field PGA event in Mexico. Then he had a respectable showing, making the cut. He didn't demonstrate anything approaching that caliber on Big Break.

I did think the variety of challenges was improved and interesting in Michigan, like hitting 5 different clubs to the same distance.

Love the show, loved Ka'anapali, probably because it's down the road from me. I'm in the group of fans that loves the women contestants. Who doesn't? The new one duplicates the Michigan one where they have teams of 1 guy and 1 girl. The girls in the new Prince Edward Island one are easy on the eyes too!

I have watched pretty much every episode of all of the Big Breaks... BUT, I think the show could be MUCH better... less fluffy nonsense and more golf. I also tend to agree with posters who said they like singles best... leave the teams for Highway 18. I will certainly watch the next one... but hope for some changes.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
