My driving has improved considerably over the past few months and I seem to have now cured a slice and can often draw the ball at will. Distance with my drive about 225-260, depending. However, I have a new set of clubs and the new driver (TM Burner 10.5), although it has given me about 25 more yards than my previous 15 year old metal wood, and with my swing changes, the ball flies far and straight but has quite a lot more height to it than with the old driver. Is this a concern? It would seem to me that if I were to bring the ball flight lower I should even get out further than 250-260 on a good drive. I am teeing the ball about 1/2 a ball diameter above the top of the club.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

If it added 25 yards to your drives then I would say that you are closer to optimal launch conditions with your new driver than your old one.

I think the only way to tell for sure is demo a club with lower loft or a stiffer tip shaft to bring the ball flight down and then see if the total distance is better.

I used to try to fight the high tee shot, but learned over time that a high drive will land softer and end up in fairway more often. Personally I like being in fairway. Most believe that a higher flight will lead to more 'carry' yardage anyway, which is much easier to control than 'roll' yardage.

I would agree with the other posters that you are better off with the ball flight you are getting from the new driver. Driver technology has changed significantly in the past 15 years. Enjoy your new distance!!

I basically agree with everyone else but I will add one thing for you since I also have a TM Burner 10.5. You don't have to tee the ball as high with this driver as you would with a lot of others. That may be a factor for you but as everyone else said, if you are getting 25 extra yards I would be hesitant to change anything. I love the club by the way. I know it has as much to do with my swing as the club but I have been definitely keeping it in the fairway better since I got the club and for me at least I have a lower trajectory.

I have a Cobra 9 degree driver and I hit a very high ball still, after talking to my swing coach over the weekend she said that it is the shaft that is wrong for me, I have a low kick stiff shaft and should have a medium-high kick for my swing maybe that is why your getting a higher flight, but if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!!!
