So, it was the third time I said "no more golf stuff for a while", until I had the temptation of browsing the callaway web page just to find the sale that would make me guilty of all charges: Two free X fairway woods, with the purchase of one FT-IQ Driver.
So after thinking a lot, and with the bad desire of getting rid of the slice that constantly do with my Ping G2, I decided on purchasing it. I know, It´s $500 but it will be the las time, I promess!!

It will be a 10°, stiff shaft. I´ll let you know how it goes as soon as I get to play with it.

In My Bag:

Driver: Titleist 910D2 9.5º Regular
Irons: 4-SW Taylor Made Burner, Regular Graphite
Wedges: 60°-08 Titleist Vokey

Fairway Wood: 16º 3W Taylor Made R9 Stiff

Hybrid: Adams A4OS 19° Regular

Putter: Scotty Cameron Studio Newport 2

You should have just picked up an old FT-i from Callaway Pre-owned for $150... that's what I did. I could never pull the triger on a $500 driver.

No club is worth $500, but I guess you got a couple woods... so it's a good deal as long as you like the fairway woods and needed them. Let us know how you like it.

Yeah, I normally think the same way, but figured that I could sell those woods for $150 a piece, so I´d be really paying $200 for the driver, which is a great deal.

I don't think you can sell them for that much...

That would be a great deal, but I hope you read the fine print!! I believe the retailers/manufacturers are probably aware that people might try that.

I am interested in hitting the FT-IQ. I agree the price for the club is too high, but being able to buy the squareway wood or the 2 fairway woods for a $1 make the initial cost of the driver tolerable. My current driver is a Taylor Made Midsize that I bought back in the mid 90's and my 3 wood is a Callaway Hawkeye that my friend gave to me because he couldn't hit it.

The Nike offer initially caught my attention, but when I heard about the Callaway offer, I became very interested.

I had one of those drivers. I used to absolutely clobber that club. When it stayed in bounds it was great! I was at an outing and won a long drive with that model. I've played that course since and have never hit to that spot again!

I was at the Pro Shop at my local course yesterday (season starts mid-may, so everyone is shopping)...

They had 12 Callaway FT series drivers, used, with all different lofts. One of my friends bought a 12* FT-IQ for 175$, and there was barely any wear showing on it at all. Hell of a deal.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

I wish they had this deal a few weeks ago when I was looking for both a new driver and a new 3 wood. I really like the FT-iq and FT-9, but I knew I also needed a 3 wood so I ended up buying the FT-i instead to leave enough money. This deal would have been about $100 more, but I might have been willing to do it.

Awww.... for the slight increase in price, you should have gotten the Tour version... The Fubuki shaft in the tour is a real step up - no BS. But still, the Ft-iQ is a well designed club. I think you'll enjoy it!

I bought new driver Titleist d2 last year for 300 but now it's less than 100. I would never get a newest model again. The price is just ridiculous for the new driver.

It is a good option, but mostly I bought it to help correcting my slice, since the regular version is 1° closed. All the reviews, with no exception, talk about how hard is to work the ball to the right wit that club, so I think it would be a good help.

The tour version, on the other hand, doesn´t have the draw I´m looking for.

I too am interested in the new FT-iQ and plan to travel to a Callaway Demo Day next week for a test drive. The price had me second guessing my better judgement until the "Buy one-get a Sqaureway Wood for $1 dollar deal" was announced. Who knows, I may just go for it and be "guilty", if it truly helps this old high handycapers slice plus I would like to add a new 5 wood to my bag. I guess I'll know better after I hit a few with this club. Good luck to all you other potential buyers, I'll report back.

you made the right choice in getting the non-tour version....

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
