I think it is time for David to hang it up. Or at least go home and practice in private. This is just getting ridiculous. I don't know how he can go out there and not be completely embarrassed by himself.

He is +17 through two rounds of play at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. He has the worst score by 6 strokes. The closest player to him is Lenny Wadkins at +11. Who is Lenny Wadkins anyway? (See my point?) And the leader right now is at -17, a whopping 34 strokes ahead of Duval.

At this point, David might not be able to compete in my local holiday scramble tournaments, much less the Nationwide Tour. But the PGA Tour? The Tour that is for the elite... the best of the best? Duval is making a mockery of his 13 Tour victories, especially the British Open.

I agree, I like the guy a lot and I've got a lot of sympathy for what he's going through. But he's got to get things straight in his head before coming out on tour. I think this recent performance is really telling, it's not like he's playing on really tough tracks this week.

Playing just for the sake of playing obviously isn't doing him much good and he's admitted his heart isn't in it, so why no wait till he's got something to play for? Or perhaps the injury to his back/wrist and his battle with vertigo have just taken too much out of him?

I do have to applaud Nike for sticking by him even though he hasn't done @#%# since signing with them.

I applaud Nike as well, but I heard the counter-argument: it wouldn't pay for Nike to abandon him, either. Then they'd be the jackass company. And hey, he won a major with their gear - they got some good out of him.

But +17? I'd be willing to bet I could have beat that. I played two courses in 1996 the day after the PGA Tour played and broke 80 both times (granted, I putted like a 14-year-old both times).

Check out Duval's scorecards . He barely broke 90 today. 82, 79, 85. Ridiculous.

He needs to stop going to tour events until he can break 80 consistently. He's making a joke of himself. It's painful to see. Michelle Wie would have to give the guy five strokes a side!

Three straight triple bogeys in a row today. You have to hunt for them, because the pga.com scorecard doesn't even color them in! Friggin' ridiculous!!!

I wasn't so sure yesterday, but I am today: I'd have beat his score today. 99.9% confident. Ridiculous.
