ok.

first round of the year today. As expected, I was very rusty. For the most part my irons were ok but short game was horrible.

i did however notice that i was getting 'wristy' with my long irons. I ended up with a few bad hooks. My partner said it looked like my grip was off.

If you are too wristy, you use a weak grip correct?

Any advice would be appreciated. Also, any good drills to loosen my hips before the round. I usually swing too much with my arms until around 4.

Don't mess with anything regarding your swing just yet. Play the rust off, then worry about assessing the problems after you get some feel and game time. You might be trying to fix something that might go away on it's own over time.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

you know, that's some damn good advice. I really tend to overthink and tinker....

I'll see how I am striking the ball in June.
