For the first time, I took a few swings on a lauch monitor. I've been having trouble finding a driver that I don't balloon the ball with. My current, a 983E with 9.5* loft does well (I thought) but I wanted to see numbers. At any rate, this is the average of 7 swings.

Clubhead speed: 117 mph
Ball speed: 168 mph
Launch angle: 7.8 degrees
Spin: 3,600 rpm

From everything I've read, my launch angle is too low and my spin is too high (verify?). The gentleman working with me suggested I was coming down too steep on the ball, causing the lower angle and higher spin. I don't have any video of my swing, but what would you suggest are common fixes (things I could try, or look out for) for this?

Hmmm, you could tee the ball higher, promoting a higher launch and less of a steep angle of approach. The ball will come out lower if struck correctly and you'll get a few more yards as well. Just a suggestion to experiment with on the range. I think the common rule is the higher you tee it, the further left the ball should go in your stance (for righties).

spray some grease or cooking oil on the face. This reduces spin (good for a game of who-can-hit-the-longball with your friends. For money.)

Anyways if its your swing you need help with, try flattening out your swing just a little bit. This will help with promoting a squarer club face on impact.

By flattening out your swing i mean instead of your plane looking like this |

It will look like this \

Good luck!

widen your stance a little, flatten out your swing plane, and put the ball farther forward in your stance to promote an upward strike on the ball. Remember, the driver is more of a sweeping motion than a hitting down motion.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee
