Perfect round of golf - what is it?

In my opinion, the perfect round of golf is to hit the ball where you are looking and putt the ball on the line you want. Whether the ball goes into the hole is not always up the the person hitting it.... we can't control bounces.

I have had rounds where I could do no wrong, but could not get the ball to go into the hole if my life depended on it. Successful day. I have also had days where I hit the ball like crap and shot 65 because of my putter. The former is more satisfying. The feeling of looking up at the ball knowing you hit it pure is so much more rewarding than making a few lucky putts or knocking in a chip.

What is your idea of a perfect round of golf?

P.S. - Only to make a perfect day better is with a cold beer and a hot girl by your side cleaning your balls for you.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

I think it depends on how good of a golfer you are. I'm not so good so to me a perfect round of golf is simply no topped or sculled shots.

It's all relative - what did Annika say "Birdie all 18 holes!?!" and Charles Barkley just wanting to get off the tee, I guess we're all somewhere in between. For me - a round with NO mental mistakes (they seem to sting a bit more). Although your P.S. sounds OK

A perfect round of golf is 18 hole in ones.

Stepping back to reality, a perfect round is when you sneak out at lunch time for a quick nine only to see your boss teeing off on the first hole when you're heading to the clubhouse. You stick around to play the back nine and still get back to work before he notices. (unless he followed you there. Oops!)

It's what I always try to achieve, but never will. The pursuit of perfection is what drives me in this game.

I think you have the right idea for sure. For me I think the perfect day is when my drives and iron shots do what I want them to and I'm not having any terrible shots. and if at the end of the day I dont have my best score but feel like I had control over my shots then I am happy.

Some people here - also low handicappers - would tell you that the perfect day is the day they shoot their best score(s). They're "score obsessed," and that's fine, but I'm more in your camp: a perfect day is when you strike the ball as you intend to.

I vividly recall the details of one shot in particular. Was having a bad day playing golf, playing to a peanut-shaped green 209 yards away. Tons of trouble right, a very gentle chipping area/fairway to the left, pin front left. It was cold, but I settled on a 4-iron from a slightly sidehill lie. I wanted to cut it a little and let it roll up onto the green. If it bounced like I pictured, it'd be close to the hole. I swing, I look up, and the shot is going along the exact path in the sky that I imagined. I didn't get the bounce, but I left myself with an easy putt from what amounted to the fringe for an easy par. That shot was five years ago, but I remember everything about it. And I have a few others like that, of course. A perfect day would be getting as many of those together as possible.

For me, a perfect round of golf is any time that I can get out on the course and play. The score doesnt really matter to me all that much, just being able to get out and enjoy the game is all that matters to me.

Well, I wouldn't consider perfect achievable so I hold it to puring your shots and making your putts, managing the course and taking the best route. To me, I want to get as close to that as possible and just thinking about what perfect is helps me concentrate on what I need to do to get it close.

A perfect round is a relaxing round with a lower score than I've ever scored before.

I'm keeping it simple and pleasant :)

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

The perfect round of golf to me is when you get out on the course and step out of your usual realm and really understand that its not that hard of a game!! And even better is when you make a habit out of it and go about playing this game that way all the time....

Beautifully said! It's amazing how easy it is to wax poetic about golf.

I agree but would add one thing: winning a few bucks off my friends. It's not so much about the money, but holing a putt to win a bet makes it that much more satisfying to me...

I did have a shot that regards as one the best shot .

It is par 5 ( 502 yards ) and i have 200 yards to the pin.

There is a tree in the middle of the fairway that stood between my 2nd shot and the Pin. There is also another tree in front ( left side ) of the green . There is a water on the right side of the fairway and green too .

I have to fade to reach the green in 2 . I pulled out my 4 iron and was imagining how i need the ball to fade to avoid the 1st tree and 2nd tree.

I executed the shot perfectly and reach the green in 2 and have 6 ft to the pin. I missed the putt for an eagle and birdie ! However still so happy due to the 2nd shot !

    • This is the first time I have played in this league but here is an interesting local rule they use. You are allowed to move your ball one score card length in either direction to improve your lie. Scorecard has to be in the folded position though. I love beachside golf. The other rule is you got to walk unless you have a handicap placard.
    • PGAT is all about Scottie right now and rightfully so. The PGAT has it's star right now and some potential good guys hoping Scottie takes some time off.  The LIV guys are of the radar until the PGA. There will be the Rory/ Hovland rumors to keep the fire smoldering until then.  You will probably get your wish as time moves on. What I like most about LIV is they are funded by a regime that has numerous human rights violations and the players don't seem to care. The fans certainly don't seem to mind. I admit, I went to LIV Miami to check it out, it wasn't empty.  I didn't see anyone protesting.
    • After 393 pages of replies can we all agree that Tiger is the GOAT?
    • Hmmm, seems odd. I have ordered several things from them and have never had an issue, so I'm confident it will be resolved. I'm sending the watch back, I don't care for it, Ill just use the H4. There's nothing technically wrong with it, I just don't like it.
    • Actually, I'm in a different league this year. That was at New Albany Golf Links.
