How do I get from 90˚ to impact?

I think I'm understanding the downswing bits.

I can bump my hips and drop my arms, while keeping the L- shape in my hands and arms, into a 90˚ position between the shaft and the ground. But I can't work out how I get from that position over my right thigh area into a forward pressing impact position. Am I supposed to be turning my body or rolling my arms? pushing in with my right leg?

I think I'm way over-complicating this. Any suggestions/videos?

OMG....I'll never make it if that's the case. I subscribe to the "KISS" method and don't want to go beyond that. If that dooms me to bogey golf forever...then so be it.

Slide the hips as far forward as they can go. Just keep sliding them forward. Extend everything you can - your arms, your left leg, your hips...

It's darn near impossible to explain, let alone to read and get it right, so here's my real answer: go see a teaching professional. Don't ask us.

the wrist automatically turn over.

try swinging a baseball bat like a baseball player and at the impact zone you are simulating the exact motion as a golf swing but at a different plane.

I know where you're going with this. I like to think of impact as my left arm, left wrist, top of hand and the shaft of the club as a solid straight line. Like its all a thick block of steel. You mentioned all those good positions and now you've got your lag set and need to release it into the ball. Find that spot where you can't hold the lag anymore and hit down and through the ball with that block of steel. There's a training aid of fellow teaching pro uses at my club.

The Impact Bag . I'm not one that uses training aids terribly often, but this thing sure makes sense. And like iacas said, a good local pro is probably worth looking up.

I'd just say continue to turn and make sure you follow through with your chest facing the target.

Use your hip rotation to square the clubface. Much bigger muscles and more reliable than trying to get your hands to square the club.

you're a single digit?
releasing the club from lag to impact to full release is usually pretty basic for a single digit guy... most single digits i know are working on shaping shots...
try L to L positions... simulate pre impact... impact... and release with your body basically in the impact position... hips open facing the target... shoulders squarish to the ball... hands dropped... holding lag... dropping clubhead to square at impact... release... follow thru... etc etc

Ease up Tiger. The reason I ended up here was because I'd basically improved my handicap as much as i could with the swing I had and wanted to develop a more technically correct one. I knew how to swing and how to cut and draw, I just wanted to do it more consistently and ended up getting lost in the pieces of the swing and was struggling to put them back together in the right order. The issue I had was that all the videos and drills such as the pump drill, etc. only emphasize the bit up until 90˚not how you square the clubface.

The tip I had from Ben with the impact bag and a couple of the other guys have been really handy - my contact has already gone from fairly consistent to really consistent in just a couple of days and I've added 5 - 10 yards with every club. So I'd say the effort was worth it.
