Today I tried the Scotty Cameron newport 2 at golfsmith and i was sinking putts with it left and right. Putting is the weakest part of my game. However I do not have three hundred dollars that I can spend on a putter. I was wondering if anyone knew other clubs built like the scotty cameron newport 2, that I could look at or if someone knew where I could make great deals for a scotty cameron like that? Thanks

You can check out some of the Ping Anser models. They will have an insert but will be similar in appearance to the Newport 2. They have the i series Anser in the shop where I play and it is around $100.

I have a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 teryllium face that is about ten years old. It was a pretty good putter. I am not the type to buy a new putter all the time. I have had four in 20 years of playing. A Ping Anser, the Scotty, an Odyssey 2 ball, and now a Rife.

The Rife Antigua is the best putter I have ever put in my hands. Literally, overnight, I dropped 4-5 putts per round. This is an incredible putter. They make lots of mallet styles, but I got the Antigua which is a blade, an Anser style (much like the newport 2). Rife also has the Aussie that is very similar. Take a look at these Rife putters man. The Antigua was $149.

40% of the players on the Champions Tour use these putters. That is how I heard about them. Also saw the infomercial on the Golf Channel. Unlike usual, the hype is justified this time. Awesome putters. The grooves on the face get the ball rolling immediately. You can see them well in the link below. The fit and finish of this putter is spectacular (100% milled).

Can't tell you the difference, you would have to feel it yourself. Take a look at the website below. You can see the putters on Edwin Watts, Golf Warehouse, etc.. online as well.

There's a reason scotty's are 300. There's nothing else like them.

I'd have to agree with the comment about the rife's though. They're really fantastic putters. I'm considering picking one up, but the scotty's staying in my bag for a loooong time.

Bettinardis are pretty nice as are tp mills check ebay you can get something nice for half of a cameron.

Id go with a Ping Anser. They cost $90 and are every bit as good as any Scotty Cameron.
With a Cameron, you are paying for a name and nothing more. Ive owned Camerons, Bettinardis, T.P. Mills' and Pings and the $90 Ping works just as well as a $300 Cameron or Bettinardi.
If I werent such a diehard Mizuno fan, Id have a Ping Anser instead of a Bettinardi.

try a nike unitized putter i have the tiempo i prefer it over scotty you can buy them on ebay for around 80 bucks new

How many drives do you have per 18 versus how many putts per 18? Drivers get replaced every few years, whereas, SC putters stay in the bag for years and years.

I agree with this... When I first bought my Scotty Cameron Newport 2, the salesperson also bought the Rife Antigua, he mentioned that these are very very similar aside from the cost obviously. OF course, I bought the Newport 2 because I had money to burn but if I didn't, I would have bought the Rife. I know it's dumb to think this way because between the two they both felt really good and very very similar (as I mentioned).

Logically and cost effectively, the Rife would be the way to go, however, I wanted to be "cool". LOL On a serious note, get what's best but to answer your question, Rife has been the closest to the Newport 2 that I have felt.

Like I said, I have had 4 putters in 20 years. Looking back it all began with an ancient Ping Anser my dad gave me. Ten years later, a Scotty Cameron Newport 2. Now a Rife Antigua. Even though the technology has changed, they are basically all versions of the same putter. The SC has the teryllium face, the Rife has the lines milled in the face, etc.. but they are all basically Ansers. I can honestly say though, the Rife is hands down the best putter between the three. I guarantee you that in 5 years they will not be $149 putters. Roll one for yourself and see what you think. I was amazed.

You can try the Karsten series Ping Anser 2. They run about 90 bucks. The Karsten is a little lighter and wont have the same feel of of the face the Cameron you tried, but the shape and set up of the two are nearly identical. I used a karsten anser 2 before i started using a cameron about 6 months ago. The stock grips on those Karstens are really awesome, too.

You got that right. Even as someone who loves driving the golf ball, the clubs you would have to pry out of my cold dead hands would have to be my two Scotty Cameron putters.

      I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
