So i just took a video of my swing, and overall it looks pretty good besides one slight thing. At impact, my head is looking more towards the target instead of keeping my head down. I have seen tour players and their head is completely looking down at impact and they keep that position through the follow through. Is there any drill to help my head not peek through impact?

What works for me is I tell myself everytime to "keep your head down", among other fundamentals. Maybe try counting to 2 after striking the ball.

Before I start my backswing I find a dimple, letter, number, or something on the ball. I keep focused on that spot until I see the clubface pass through.

This does 2 things for me: 1. It keeps my head still through the swing and if I keep my head still it keeps my lower body quiet with less lateral motion. 2. If I am focused on that spot on the ball there are no other swing thoughts that pop in my head during the swing. There is the ball, make a relaxed but aggressive pass through it.

I was just about to post a message about this! I find myself pulling my head up as I'm approaching impact... was hoping for a drill, but I guess I just need to focus more.
Aargh.

try keeping your right foot on the ground until after impact. Also, don't think about keeping your head down, but rather think about keeping your head behind the ball.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

David Duval's probably a bad example, but both he and Annika Sorenstam rotate their head towards the target coming in to impact. Certainly not a classic looking move, but I'm not sure it really hurts you as long as you're not coming out of the shot. Which I'd guess not if you're carrying a 3.2!

Otherwise, I'd agree with MiniMoe's advise. And BTW... congrats on getting to the Sectionals for Open qualifying!

I heard that you don't need to keep your head perfectly still.

Personally, I stare at the ball until after I have hit it. Then, my head turns along with my follow through, so that I can see where I've hit the ball.

I my head doesnt stay still at all durning the swing. It moves back some when i backswing and it follows the ball after it leaves. But my chin always stays level and its always behind the ball.

I had the same problem, what works for me is if playing with a group of friends is having one stand behind me and watch where it goes, that way I concentrate on keeping my head still.
