The problem im having is my 6 iron cant even make it 130 yards half the time, at the range my 6-8 land right by each other practically.

The ball flight is VERY high, and straight, and its great for approach cause It literally plops onto the green, but I cant even get to the pin on a par 3 with a 6 iron and its not only embarrassing but frustrating.

I dont shank the ball its clean flight just way to high of loft. I tried playing around in my stance with minimal results. I have a pretty upright swing, If I go for more of a sweeping motion and stand back further like I do with my hybrid (which is crush 180+ everytime) then it results in a slice or a draw or hitting the ground before the ball. So I just cant seem to win here.

I know by my divot that 80% of my shots are hitting the ball first, and leaving a light divot, not a tour pro chunk of turf, but a decent divot none the less.

Try to use more lag in your swing which will will de-loft the face slightly. Alternatively, check loft of your clubs just in case they are bent slightly

Make sure that your hands are leading the club through impact and that you aren't "flipping" your wrists.

Do you mean like more forward press at takeaway? Is that how to produce more lag?

IME, when you find that mid-long irons are going the same distance, it's the result of an arm swing and very little leg drive. Hard to say w/o video, but that's my first guess.

I agree with you on this also. There are a couple of things that can cause this.

I was having a problem with my irons and then with a video taping of the swing I found with my mid to long irons 4-7 I was using all hands. I wasn't clearing out or turning my hips to allow the lag and thus was only getting maybe 165 170 out of my long irons. Now after a few weeks of practice and work on the feel of swinging with my hips, yesterday I hit my 8 iron about 145 and got 195 out of my 4 iron. At first it felt wierd but now when I don't do it right, the swing feels all wrong.

Yea, I would say you hit the nail on the head. just not enough body in my swing, all arms, I taped it and could see, I have much nicer turn and swing with my 9 and PW after that it becomes all arms, My drive and hyrbrid is great, Just not turning right or getting the hips on my 5-8 irons

im the opposite... i can kill my irons but lack distance on my woods... so i took a power swing clinic and all i need now is consistancy with my woods... my old swing is pretty much all arm swing which had alot of power leaks... it looked really fast in regular motion... but on slow motion vid it was totally inefficient
