I have the R7 CGB max 9.5 in the stiff shaft 45gram.While playing lately i noticed i get absolutely no run on the fairway after a drive, even on hard fairways. On a wet fairway i noticed plug marks 3 feet in front of my ball.I carry the ball a long way though. So anyway i went to golfmart today and asked for a new shaft, they put me on the launch monitor and after 4 swings
he was able to tell me i get no run on the fairway, unbelievable,he said shaft was to light for me e.t.c so he is fitting it with a heavier shaft,i think its a pro-force V2.He said it will make a big difference.First time i ever got fitted for a driver,i was always a bit skeptical about it.I forgot to ask what my hitting stats were though.I'm getting it spined also, don't know if it will make a difference.Just thought i would post this if you were thinking about getting fitted.I also said make it a half inch shorter. Can't wait to hit it.

I found the CGB max shaft super light as well. I've been taking it to the range and played one round one it. I get a lot of backspin on the ball. Too bad I can't reshaft it since it ain't mine.

I don't know whether it was me or the new shaft but the difference is
unbelievable,i was at the range and working hard on turning my shoulders and coiling and unleashing with my hips, the trajectory was exactly what i was always looking for,i am definitely carrying the ball a lot further,i mean a lot further.Getting fitted for a driver is the only way to go.
Playing in a tournament tomorrow and i will definitely have a chance at the
longest drive, can't wait to get out on the course.Sorry about raving a bit folks but I'm slightly elated

Very exciting. My 30$ used driver has an extremely light shaft also, I'm wondering if that's why I get the drives that start out straight, but seem to climb upward about 100 yards out. Is that a sign of backspin?

Yea, definately a sign of backspin. Swing plays the biggest role, then shaft, then head (in my experience).

Do you still have the weights set up as 1 - 16 - 1?

I just put in 10 - 16 - 10, hopefully that might help with keeping the backspin down.

My R7 425 had 2-10-10-2 weights in it so I just put them in the CGB to try it out since the stock shaft is so light.

I have a CGB Max driver High Trajectory, reg flex shaft. I was really happy when I got it, but now I see that the trajectory is a little to high for me as I get better. Can I compensate for that with more weighting to bring flatten out the shape and add some roll?

Let me know how that works out, sounds like a good idea.

Does anyone know where to get weights on the cheap for these? I mean, I just priced it new, and it is cheaper to get a second driver from TM preowned than it is to get the weights.

While we're at it, I'd also like to know if replacing the 1g with a 10g weight is still conforming with the rules.

Man, I ask a lot of questions.

The weights did not fix my backspin but its very easy to hit a draw. I have not sliced a drive with it so basically all my misses are hooks from closing the face at impact. I'm thinking of testing out 2-16-10 so it can be more toe weighted.

I saw a bunch of weights on eBay go for anywhere from $10-20 recently. I think that is your best bet.

I don't think its illegal to add weights on an adjustable driver as long as it is not during the round.

Bruce, what's your SS with the driver? I tried the Proforce V2 on a Nike SQ 5900 but hit it like crap, not sure if it was the shaft or the head though. Just afraid if I change the shaft I may be worse off. Right now I'm carrying only about 220 and 30-40 yards of roll.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
