I am switching to a scotty cameron soon. I looked at a couple of models and I am in between the newport 2.6 and newport 2. Has anyone tried the 2.6 and have some advice on why one model might be better for a certain golfer vs another. I know its preference. just cant make up my mind. thanks ppl.

Hit them both. Choose the one you like the most. Don't buy them on reputation alone: pick the one you like the most after you've putted with 'em.

I like my Newport 2.

Other than that, there's no much input anyone here can give you. You've got to play with it, not us.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

I have two putters. The Odyssey White Hot Sabretooth and the Newport 2.

When I need more feel and control on my putts, I would go with the Newport 2. I love this putter for this specific reason. On the good days, I can make the ball dance with the Newport 2.

I have the Studio Select Mid Slant 2 and Fastback that I just won at a tournament. I have been putting pretty good with the blade, but the Fastback (mallet type) feels more consistent. The design helps me hold my stroke until the end.

Can't go wrong with Scotty's. I would say try out both in the store or even go to a Roger Dunn or a store with a 90-Day return policy to check it out. I would start with the Fastback.

It's just a matter of your stroke and which makes you feel more confident...

Those are pretty different putters. I like the looks of the 2.6. But for me, the 2 is the putter.

I like the 2 Midslant personally.

Exactly and that goes for looks too; seeing a catalog picture is not enough. For my second Scotty, I was sure I was going to get the Fastback, based on what I had seen. But after 45 minutes of putting at Golfsmith while they added up my trade-in clubs, I decided on the Circa 62 #6. I just rolled the ball better with it and it felt better in my hands.

If you want to go really in-depth with Scotty Cameron advise, stop by The Cameron Collector . It's definitely the ultimate source for Cameron questions and discussions.

Those are two very different putters. But i would guess if you tend to let the face wander in your stroke you may want to go with the 2.6. Other than that, my best advice would be to pick the one that feels the best in your hands. The feel is most important.

When do you not need feel and control on your putts?

Do you know what length you want? each length has a specific weight for balance.

I own a Newport 2 and love the clean look. try both and see which one you putt the best with.

Have fun deciding

I never play in tournaments with good prizes like a Cameron. Played in a scramble this past weekend and won a Lexmark printer worth about $25 and a $25 gift card to a terrible steak restaurant here.
