Your problem is that you are hitting your woods and driver. Trey hitting your irons until you solve your issues with your woods/driver.

Seriously though nobody can tell unless you post a video or give a better description...

9.5 degree driver thats the problem for alot of people in the begining. Try to get on with a lil more loft more foregiving on creating sidespin.

That's perfectly normal. When I started golf I couldn't even get my woods to let the ball in the air. For over a year I used my irons from the tee (started with 6 iron then progressed to 4 iron). I've been playing for 15 months now, and I can hit my 5 and 3 woods pretty striaght (except when my body gets out of sync and I start slicing) and my driver not that good.

Just hit balls on the range. You'll eventually figure it out on your own. Or just take a lesson with a pro.

If he hits long irons well, I would imagine it's not a grip issue.

More likely, it's a mental issue. Your swing changes with your woods and driver because of some mental inclination you have about them. Unless you post a video, you're going to be best-served by getting a couple lessons.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

Your driver and woods are, of course, longer clubs than your irons. This means they are harder to control. Don't over swing. It took me a long time to realize my problem with my woods was I was trying to swing too hard. Accentuate the arch in your swing.

When you are out on the driving range hit a bunch of balls with just a waist high back swing and concentrate on tempo.

Definitely take a few lessons... If you can hit your irons fine, you have some idea of how to swing, the pro will help to "fine tune" your swing...

Honestly the best way is to get a lesson from a pro.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Also try to concentrate on not making your waist go with your dowswing. Keep your waist as fixed as possible in it's place, doesn't start moving except after you strike the ball and start with the followthrough. Your eyes should always be concentrated on the ball of course, goes without saying.

There could be so many different reasons! Are you at least hitting the ball? If so what is it doing?

FWIW...focus on a proper swing and NOT striking the ball. If you will make proper practice swings and then allow the ball to "get in the way" of the swing I think you'll find better results. But, who am I to give lessons. Look at my handicap.

go to youtube and search motodrummer35 or golf ball slices into house. That is my profile and the one video I have uploaded. It is a 3 wood swing from the hill below the ladies tees begause I topped it with my driver from the whites. This was months ago, but my swing has not changed much.

This is totally wrong. You want to initiate with your hips on the downswing so that they are completely cleared by the time the clubhead gets to the ball. All the great ball strikers do this. If you keep your waist as fixed as possible, you are swinging with your arms! That is NOT good.

Oh by the way, if I in any way sound like a dick with that post, I apologize. And if in any way I misinterpretted the post I'm quoting, I apologize as well.

I'm not one hundred percent sure if this is what you meant but your suppose swing from the ground up. If you don't you'll be swinging with your arms and not doing very well.

Low and Slow......That is the Tempo.

Low and slow with the fairway woods and Driver, practice it on the range. Of course I am talking about the takeaway...good takeaway leads to a good backswing, the rest takes care of itself.
