hey guys/gals

thinking up upgrading the irons, from the TA2's to thes Nike CCi Forged Irons
anyone currently hit them and like them?

i read this article from the sandtrap review columns and it seems like there were alot of good repsonses

I play aboout a 9 or so hndcp, but plan to improve this to a 5 or better this year
my TA's are great irons, thin blade style club
they are not game improving for sure, as when you miss hit them you definatly know - which i am ok with, as i want to know when i am doing something wrong

will i miss them if i switch to the CCi's?

sorry if this topic was covered elsewhere, but the search engine here is kinda brutal

thanks for your input!

enis

PS - sure is a sexy lookin club hey??? :)

I use to play the pro-combo's prior to getting the VR split cavity and loved them they were a great club...the 8-PW give you a lot of feel...However I really love the VR splits...they give me a lot of feel and forgivness for an occassional mis-hit...if you get tired of the pro-combo's look for the VR splits they are an awesome club.

yes the VR splits are IDEALLY what i wanted and a super nice club

but i wasnt really looking for irons this year, just happened to come across these for a good deal maybe in a few years when i can pick them up cheap enough, i will pick em up nothing but good reviews on them (pro forged combos) did you notice w yours that you lost a one club distance w them? it was about half and half from what i read..some guys lost a club in distance some were the same i base my shots off the 150 mark and that currently is the 9 iron wonder if i will be hitting the 8 from there now??.........

I did see a noticable improvement in distance with the pro-combo's...was around 145-150 with 8 iron before and with the pro-combo's dropped down to a 9 iron from that same distance...now with the VR splits hitting PW from 145...sometimes I think it is all mental and that when you get new clubs you are jacked up to hit 'em so they go farther for a while but the pro-combo's stayed pretty consistent and so far the VR's are too...

They're expensive as hell though over here - 140 euro's a club. I can get a set of Cleveland CG7's (New ones, steel shaft) for 600 euro's per eight clubs here.

Oh, and the CG7 tour is absolutely stunning. Lovely, LOVELY looking club at adress, goes long with plenty of backspin, a steal at that price and great feedback whilst maintaining good forgiveness. You really have to try them out, I hit the new Nikes, Cobra's, Mizuno's, Titleist's and more but these just stood out.

I'm nearly 16 though playing at 9ish handicap, I work on my swing a LOT for teh ladies and I loved them. I don't work for Cleveland, just saying ;)

    • Just want to share a quick update with everyone. I went to the range the week before last, even though I took it easy no significant pain occurred just a slight twinge when I swung my #4 hybrid. The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning. However I think switching back to graphite shafts is definitely gonna happen, my mp15's were fitted with X shafts and having something lighter will help.
