Was replying to an earlier post about clubs and it got me thinking as to which club in my bag do I have a LOT of confidence in and generally consider it the best in the bag.

I'm interested to know what club/clubs you guys consider the one thing in the bag that "you can't take away from me unless you pry it from my cold dead hands" .

I've got to say that my 5-wood is one club that I could not do without. I hit it well. On tight, short par 4's or par 4 extreme doglegs, I'll usually pull out the 5-wood and blast it 235 down the pipe. On par 5's, it's the club I can use to get on or around the green in two if it's a longer hole.

mine would be either my SeeMore FGP putter (Ive sunk more 15-25 footers in the 5 months that Ive had this than i have in my entire life), or my Nickent 5DX hybrid. that thing is almost like cheating its so straight and forgiving. if i had to choose between the 2, i think the SeeMore FGP would win

by the way, those Callaway Steelhead III's that you have (the OP) are sweet fairway woods. one of the best fairway woods ever made IMO

Overall it is my 58* Callaway X-Forged wedge. Every time I pull it out I konw I am going to hit a good shot.

Irons would be my 7 iron. I have always hit it well so I have a lot of confidence in it.

Long clubs would be my 5 wood. It is another club I have always been able to hit well with.

As far as most useful as a weapon, the putter and driver are my favorites.

However, for the few times a round when I need it, my rescue wood is amazing. Like Lee Trevino recommended, I rely on a 7 wood -- it is a Callaway Steelhead with a steel Memphis 10 shaft -- an old club replaced this year with a brand new one I found online. Part of the club's magic is its steel shaft -- it is short, firm, but very predictable. For forced carries on par fives and those over 200 yard par 3s, it is a great choice. From the rough, it is far easier (for me) to hit than a hybrid, and I can get a lot more distance -- a very versatile club that is easy to work right or left, highly recommended. Hitting into a green, the ball stops like a high iron might stop. I will use it to carry 190 to 225 yards with a lot of confidence.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
