Today I had a colossal mental mistake. It cost me the individual win on the front 9 stableford, it cost our team the win on the front 9.

Par 5, 9th hole, I hit a crappy drive into the left rough and a bad five iron to about 100 from the green - in the left rough. I hadn't noticed that one of my foursome had also hit his second to the same area.

Our balls were within 5 yards of each other's, and we were both playing a Callaway Tour i.

So, I step up and hit a flush sandwedge to about a foot-and-a-half from the cup. Surely to be a tap in birdie, and finish at +1, win the round - - NO!

I hit the other guy's ball. Two stroke penalty. Replay my ball, make a double. Shoot +4, lose the round. Lose my swagger. Lose my mind.

Love this game.

Ooo...ouch! That's gotta hurt! At least you have the right attitude about it. I haven't done anything like that YET but it did remind me of something that I saw happen last year. I was playing a round with a couple of low-cappers and one of them hit the wrong ball in the same situation as you had. That was strange enough but his partner 3 holes later did exactly the same thing. I hadn't seen someone hit the wrong ball in who know when and to see it twice within a 3 hole span by experienced players?!?! Ever since then I have made it a point to double check that mark!

My neighbor did that to lose by one stroke in his first ever 4 day tournament event.

Have you read Paper Tiger? He was playing in a tournament, both him and his playing partner were using a titleist...both in the middle of the fairway and they both hit the wrong golf ball!... So don't feel like it's never been done...especially by a good player such as yourself.

Well, I've never done something that bad... (yet) But one day I was in a bit of a rush and played the hole, and my friend hadn't even teed off yet

Well, I haven't had a blunder like that recently but one thing I did today that I'm still kicking myself over was I left a 12 foot Eagle putt dead in the middle and 2 inches short,,,Ouch,,,I just kicked myself again just thinking about it!

As far as playing the wrong ball, we've all done it if you play this game long enough! It's a tough lesson having done it in a money match, but I'll bet you never do it again!

Ouch,,,I just kicked myself again over my Eagle putt,,,LOL!

I had to fire my caddie a few weeks ago. I hit a shot the hit the back of the green and bounded down a hill. Knowing that you do NOT want to be long on this hole, I was playing for middle of the green even though the pin was back. When I grabbed my headcover, I tried to figure out why I put my 4i cover on my 6i. It turns out that the correct covers were on their clubs.

DOH!!!!!!
