Do they even make them for a 3 year old? He is a little dude that has to do everything I do. please help??? I don't want to buy him plastic fisher price junk, some real clubs. Or should I just cut about 2 feet off of some old irons and a putter?

You can always google "youth golf sets" and you will get A LOT of results. A lot of no name brands but does he really need name brands.

Re: Where to get real golf clubs for a 3 year old?

I know my local golf shop has kids clubs that are colour coded for different ages (I'm not sure which colour goes with which age). Not sure if they have them in Canada or the U.S. but we usually get the short end of the stick when it comes to equipment availability so I'm sure you could find them. Cut down clubs would work fine, a three year old isn't going to be worried about swing weight and shaft flex, it's more about getting him swinging which a cut down club will do just fine for.

I would advise against cutting down some of your old clubs, the clubheads are way too heavy and the shaft would be up near 4X-Super Stiff. With some clubs designed for him it will be much easier for him to pick up the game, which will make it more enjoyable as well. I can't wait until my nephew is old enough to go out with us. He got a fisher price "set" (one club) last christmas, but again he was only 20 months old at the time.

I got something along the lines of this:

for my 2-year old. They're well made and just the right size. The set I got is just the driver, a 9-iron, and a putter, but I also have a 7-iron by Lynx (I think) that I ordered from Golfsmith.com. If you just want a single club, it wasn't more than $20 I don't think.

I found a set on ebay, comes with a hybrid and everything. I hope it bolts on to a golf cart.

Re: Where to get real golf clubs for a 3 year old?

My 5yo daughter has clubs. My advice is to work from the pin backwards.
Pick up a $10 kids putter at Wmart and see if he has the attention span to last more than 5 minutes on the putting green. Until my daughter was five, she would putt a few times and then be picking flowers, chasing butterflies, and log rolling down the green embankment. She also has a PW, 7 iron, 5W, and golf bag. Would not buy an entire set just yet. Get the putter first, then PW, then 7i, etc, etc.

Dunno if Callaway makes them small enough for a 3yo, but thier kids sets have the Trade in Trade up so when they get taller/older you can trade thier clubs in for the next level and just pay the difference.

Probably sure some other major brands do the same but Callaway's CS is tops.

Re: Where to get real golf clubs for a 3 year old?

I'll vote for the U.S Kids golf clubs too. I've got the driver, 7 iron, putter set-up for my 2.5 year old twins. We have a boy and a girl. She's not that into it as of now, but my son is hooked. The clubs work out great, and they're fairly cheap in my opinion. I take him to the range with me now, when I know it's not that busy. He'd stay all day. If I had time I'd take him every day, because he has so much darn fun. "Daddy I really got ahold of that one huh"!! I've taught him some other lingo too. One of my favorites that he repeats is, "Daddy, I caught it a little thin". Pretty funny from a 2 yr old. Check out those clubs. And you can get them right or left handed. They're a pretty solid choice.

My friends 5yo has callaways. Kids real cool. We let him play from the kids tees on the par 3's when the course is empty (we usually take him on monday, because there is absolutely no-one there), and he has a blast. His personal best is a 13 on a par 3, but its so cool to see when he hits a good drive and says 'ohhhh, I crushed that one!' lol

+1, my son has about the same attention span, putts for a couple of minutes, then it's snow-angels in the bunker.
