I was in buying some tees, balls and a headcover last night at Golf Galaxy and I saw something that realllly ticked me off. There were 2 kids behind the front checkout counter swordfighting with 2 graphite shafts. One was an Aldila NVS, the other I couldn't tell. Even worse, one dropped his shaft on the tile floor to come check me out. They must have been hurting for grunt help to hire kids like that. They seemed nerdy and knew nothing about golf, one said he worked at Best Buy with the guy shopping in the ball aisle.

Modern Day teens?

Those kids are just retarted. That has no reflection on me. Can i say old men are quick to assume all teens are idiots?

In my experience, any big-box retailer--be it golf, electronics, musical instruments, or furniture--faces the dilemma of low overhead (cheap labour) versus good service. I don't enter big-box stores expecting anything from the employees who work there. If I want things done correctly, I go to the local pro shop, or guitar shop, etc. Golf Galaxy, Best Buy, and Guitar Center offer me great prices but nothing in the way of service.

Can I say read the title? Ignorant much?

Exactly. That's like saying all old people can't drive. I mean, that's just foolish and ignorant for generalizing. These are two dumbasses who are probably bored at work. I don't find it to be that big of a deal, but don't sterotype all teenagers because there are some tools out there.

I hope you let a manager know about this. If they damaged the shafts, they have to pay for them. In addition, if they put them back for sale, they might be selling damaged product. If I bought a high-end shaft, and it didn't perform well because someone was sword fighting with it before selling it to me, but I didn't know this, I might well blame the manufacturer of the shaft - to the detriment of their future business.

oh, im not saying all teens are like that, but in general, it seems like the large majority of teens today were very poorly brought up.

Agreed, i wasnt 'attacking' all teens either. It just seems that a lot of kids today seem to think that they can do whatever they want wthout consequence.

That said, i've played golf with kids from 14-20, and in general, it seems teens who golf have a much better attitude and values than the general population. Theres a 17 year old I golf with quite often who is one of the most mature and intelligent teens I have ever met. But my experience wth most kids nowadays is that they have very little respect. Sorry if I offended any of the younger members here, truly, it wasnt aimed at everyone.

Would this thread constitute a reasonable sample size to assume that teens cant spell? ;)

Horseing around with merchandise at work is pretty damn stupid... especially considering that if they get extremely carried away flying splintered graphite can really inflict some damage to a person.

every generation thinks that the generation coming up behind them are going to hell in a handbasket. They are always shiftless, lazy, disrepectful and listen to disgraceful music. In 30 years, the teens on this board will be saying the same things about teens at that time. Its an undisputed fact of life.

lol, fair enough Bigboy. I remember hearing my parents complaints when I was younger too.

Though I still cant get over this pants below the ass thing so many teens have going on.

Im also upset that 17-18 year old girls nowadays are so damn gorgeous and dress so provocatively, because it sometimes gives me thoughts I shouldnt have.

    • Day 113: 4/18/24 Stack training progress check after finishing my 6th program, and 4th Full Speed Spectrum Training session, which is recommended for my next program.     Gained 1 mph with driver, 195 g, 95g. Maintained with 280 g , and gained 2 with 145 g. Lost 1 mph on both lead and trail arm. Felt like I lost distance in my last round…
    • Please forgive the sweaty shirt.  Just got off the treadmill and decided to do my Evolvr drill.
    • I'd agree that 4w seems like the right play here. I'm not a course designer or anything but that hole looks like it could be so much more fun if everyone played from those front 2 tee boxes that are right outside your shot cone and they cut down most of the trees down that left side of the fairway. That would give risk reward to long hitters who want to try and push it up to that left fairway, allow more players to reach that second fairway, and still allowing it to be perfectly playable for someone who only hits driver like 150yds off the tee.   Yeah it looks like 4iron aimed at that inside edge of the right bunker is the play there, especially if you don't expect a 20mph tailwind again. If it is down wind again, 5iron would be just fine too, it'd still get you inside 150yds for your approach.  Keep in mind tee marker locations too, you measured that one from the back so if those tee markers are moved all the way towards the front of that box then 5 iron is probably best just to be sure that right bunker is never in play.
    • Day 1: worked on my drill for my arms.
    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
