My dad once played in the Glen Campbell L.A. Open where he was paired up with Andy North. He said he was a real nice guy. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever met a professional and what the experience was like.

i volunteer at the Northern Trust Open and work as Player Transportation. Its a great way to meet players and their wives. just this year alone i drove:

Padraig Harrington and his wife
Brian Gay and his wife
Jeeve M. Singh
Tommy Armour III
James Nitties
Geoff Ogilvie
Mark Wilson (gave me like 10 Ping Visors, even though i tried to deny them)

but while driving those players around you get to talk with them on a level that is like no other. and with traffic the way it is going from Riviera CC to LAX, you get a good hour just shooting the shit with these pros.

the best one i drove this past tournement, was Mark Wilson, but i had the pleasure of playing in the Pro-Am with him on wednesday. Took him to his hotel, met his parents and in-laws, had a coffee with his entire family while we waited for traffic to die down, and then got his personal email to set up time to golf whenever he comes to Los Angeles. he is an AMAZINGLY nice person. i even got a hug from his mom before we left to the airport.

while your in this position of having pros less than 2ft from you for an hour its very unproffessional to ask for anything like an autograph. i consider it an honor to just be able to talk to them as a normal person...

hell kimberly gay even bought me in-n-out while we killed time driving from the hotel to the course.

Really? He seems like a very laid back person but I wouldn't say "coolest". No offense to Padraig but there are definitely more interesting characters on the tour to meet.

I got to meet Natalie Gulbis at an event in Las Vegas last december. That was cool. I was never really a fan of her show or anything, but she really seems to be a very friendly person.

It was one of those deals where she teed off with every group at a par3 hole. Of course while she was watching me tee off I shank it 6 feet off to the right. :)

I played in a pro-am with Camilo his only year on the Nationwide Tour. He was still pretty young but was a very nice person and a pleasure to be around. I took off work and followed him all four days. For that one week I had a friend who was on tour. I ended up with a bunch of signed stuff from him so that was a nice keepsake.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

You should have asked her to bend over and pick up your ball for you.

Ive met and played with Bill Britton a couple of times. He's a Jersey PGA pro who competes on the Champions tour from time to time. I cant really tell you if he is "well known" or not. I have yet to stand next to a player that can hit an iron like he does. He is a good friend of my pro.

The randomest thing that ever happened to me in golf was 2 years ago I was playing oakmont and there was 2 guys infront of us. They were kind of slow so we got a par 3 and they waved us threw so I hit one that rolled off the back a little. The 2 guys walked off about 25 yards while we came up. I stepped up hit a perfect chip it hits the fringe checks and than rolls 18ft past the hole. I hear a guy say welcome to my life and I look up Phil Mickelson and Bones standing right there. I know a lot of people think he is smug but he was great gave us all autographed gloves and balls plus he talked with us for like 10 minutes.

A grocery chain in PA has a charity event every and they normally have 1 big name pro and a lesser known pro hitting shots on par 3s. The best year was Paula Cramer and Beth Bauer were there. Cramer was really nice but she was also 19 at the time so a little shy. Bauer on the other hand was at the bar with all us until 3am like it was nothing.

P.S Paula Cramer and Beth Bauer are both pretty hot but its ashame Bauer won lpga rookie of the year and than fell off the face of the earth.

Before he made the PGA tour Boo Weekley used to travel the 3 man scramble circuit in south Alabama. I was paired with his team one Saturday but that was before he was famous.

She probably thought "that guy needs a longer club".

My wife's non-profit organization was the beneficiary of a charity tournament that Frank Nobilo and Rocco Mediate participated in a few years ago. I had the opportunity to goof around with them for the better part of a weekend. Both great guys, very easy going and unassuming..........even more so after a few adult beverages!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

A few... used to play regularly with Esteban Toledo. He lived in a house above my home course. This was when he was rabbiting on the Nike tour. Also played a handful of times with Casey Martin during his "I'm suing the PGA tour" stage. One of the most couageous people I've ever met.

Played with Fred Couples at the Plantation course in Kapalua in Dec '91. Just a lucky draw... we were both there on vacation and the head pro liked me. It was just the three of us playing.

Played twice with Steve Elkington at Cypress Point. Great guy, fun stories, real short knocker.

Played a practice round with Nick Price at the '92 Open (back then alternates were granted practice rounds). Best ball striker I've ever seen and a genuinely nice guy.

Met Tom Watson at a golf clinic when I was a kid. He was a prick but still impressed me enough that I still play Ram blades to this day!

Weapons of choice:
Irons/wedges: Titleist Tour Grind
Driver:Titleist 909D2
3 Wood: Tour Edge Exotic
Putter: Odyssey White Hot

I met Rocco two years ago at a Pittsburgh charity golf tournament. He was a great guy and got to BS with him for a little.

I've met John Daly many times because i play in the tournament at Nemacolin woodlands and he plays it every year because its owned by the same guy that owns 84 lumber (his sponser). He is pretty funny and tells alot of dirty jokes haha.
