The rule says a max of 14 clubs, but I tend to carry 13 for most of my rounds - putter, 56*, 52*, Pw-4iron, 21*h, 3W, Driver. There are time where I may add my 3 iron or 60* but rarely and I don't miss them when I don't carry them.

14, though I rarely use my 60° wedge. The few times I need it, I really need it.

14. Not always the same ones, but always 14.

Take every advantage that the rules allow. This game is hard enough without making it any harder.

I agree, even if you don't use all 14 clubs every round (often don't use my 3W, 3H, or LW) it's nice to have them as an option.

ive got 12 in my bag, might add a 5 wood at some point or put my 2 hybrid back in the bag but my 3 hybrid is so close in distance to my 3 wood that theres really no need to have a club between them(that i probably couldnt hit well anyway), depending on the lie, i can hit the 3 hybrid better and farther from the rough, just cant get the 3 wood to slice through the rough like my 3 hybrid. And i dont need a lob wedge or anything like that, can barely hit my 56 sand wedge, actually dont use it that much, usually just if im in the sand or one of those shots where you have to get the ball up fast like if theres a tree directly in front of you, mostly use my pw and vary how hard i hit it from 100 and in, sounds harder that way but i feel more comfortable using it.

Until you are better at golf less clubs is easier. My Mom doesn't golf much but she knows she can hit 2 or 3 clubs really well. She often plays with just 5 wood, 7iron, PW and putter. She never going to break 80, but she also never shoots higher than 100.

= 12 clubs, and I never hit my 3i, so it may as well be 11

The 2 clubs I think would help me the most are a 52* gap wedge and a hybrid for off the tee.

I rarely seem to hit my GW, just never seem to be at that distance, but everything else seems to get regular use.

14, and for some reason (lack of practice perhaps) I stopped being effective with my 60* and replaced that club with a 16* rescue.

I make all my own clubs:

Sorry, but if your mom plays well enough that she's always in the 90's or better, she'd benefit from carrying more than 4 clubs and a putter. Trying to hit various yardages with one club is far more difficult than changing clubs and making the same swing.

Just my .02 worth.

14. I played a practice 9 yesterday with a 3 wood just for kicks putting me at 15. It may go back into my bag over the 2h, but I don't think so. I've been hitting my hybrids so badly off the tee lately, but my 3W isn't as versatile from the fairway or rough. But, 14 is the way to be...unless you need fewer.

Why handicap yourself by carrying less than 14? I guess if you play the same course over and over and know you don't need a club, but then what if they change the course slightly that day and you wish you had brought that one club? Is that extra 5 pounds enough to leave a club at home? Especially if you use a golf cart there's no reason not to bring 14. Doesn't make sense to me.

She does not try to hit diffrent yardages.Between her 3 clubs she hit full she just use combo to make up the yardage she needs. IE 7 iron goes 120 yards. She will play a 350 yard par 4 with 3 7 irons.

No pride in her game, and she hit it low and easy she never gets into trouble. Of course if she has to carry a hazard she may have an issue, but she plays off the front tees and I have yet to play a round with he where is been an issue (though I can think of few courses I play where she would have to be very creative)

I carry 14 but I could get by with 11 or 12. Don't really hit my 3 hybrid and could get by without a driver, which I don't use much, or a loft wedge, which I only use every couple of rounds probably.

I've recently quit carrying a full bag because i just didn't need them all/couldn't hit them all good enough to carry them. I pulled my 3 wood and 5 wood.....yanked the 3&4 irons, threw in a couple of hybrids and now i play 12 clubs......
The fact of the matter is that i couldn't hit the 3 or 5 wood off the ground very consistantly. Pretty good off the tee but i hit the 18 hybrid more accurately off the tee and the distance loss isn't that big of a deal to me. I hit both hybrids much better off the ground then the woods.
If i was to guess though, as i get more consistant i might add a 4 wood to the bad and a 60 wedge to round it out, although i would bet that the 4 wood will just collect dust.

I went from a wedge setup of 52, 56, 60 to the one I use now of 52 & 58. Less thinking involved and a more consistent short game. That leaves 13 in the bag and gives me an opportunity to always have a wondering eye in the pro shop. As Dr. Malcolm said in "Jurassic Park", I'm always on the lookout for the next ex___________ !!!

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
