Its been up to 100 degrees with full on humidity here in Texas. There is so much sweat I can barely hold on to my 3 wood without putting it into a death grip. Plus, I go through gloves every other day it seems because they get crusty and loose their grip. How do you guys beat the heat?

I've been running atleast 10K a day since I turned 12, so honestly, whatever gets thrown at me I'll manage :) Think about it this way, all you have to do is manage the heat better than those bad competitors of yours. And, wear a hat, change gloves, get an electric trolley even. And there is anti sweating stuff you put on your hands. I have full cord grip aswell. They give great feedback on your grip, aswell.

I moved from New Hampshire to Alabama this year and had to deal with serious heat for the first time.

Initially I bought gloves (I never used them before) to help keep my grip, but I too found that they were quickly ruined or I sweat through them during the round.

Now just carry a towel (like a bath towel) with me at all times. I make sure to dry my hands completely before pulling a club out of my bag and touching the grip. Then I hit the shot right away and put the club down before I start sweating all over it.

Yea holding on to the club is tough. I threw my 3 iron about 50 feet in the air and 100 yards down the driving range the other day when I was warming up for a round...This heat is terrible. But at least us southerners can play all year long!

Yes. I couldn't believe I was playing golf everyday in January. People back in New Hampshire kept saying, "Just wait until July!" but the summer here hasn't been all that bad.

I always say that on the hottest days here I at least have the option to go play - the golf courses are open. On the coldest days back in New Hampshire you can't do anything . I've even tried the heated stalls at the driving range... just a horrible experience... Tim

Luckily, it's never too hot or too cold out here in Southern California, and rarely rains. Good golf weather the majority of the year :)

Wish I could help, but yesterday, the heat beat me. I played a course that I've been very excited about for quite a while, and was really looking forward to a good round. I got there an hour early, warmed up, and by the time our tee time rolled around, I was already sweating like crazy. I was playing really well, until about the 5th hole, which is where the heat and sweat really became an issue. Both towels were soaked, as were my hat, shirt, and shorts.

At that point, it became harder and harder to actually hold the club at address. I could feel my right hand sliding off the top of my left every time. Normally, the GP New Decades on my irons help a lot with that, but I was using a rental set of irons from that course (long story behind that one). Needless to say, I should have packed it up at that point, I was pretty much done for the rest of the round. The real problem came at #12 or 13. My head started pounding, and I was getting nauseous off and on. We ended up playing a few more holes, and then the rain came in and it was pretty much a crappy ending to a crappy day!

I have been coping here in Houston by teeing off about 5 p.m. and playing until dark. If there is a decent breeze it is doable...may not get all 18 in, but (per Harry Callahan): "A man's gotta know his limitations..."

it gets hot sometimes here in southern illinois, I kinda like it scares a lot of people away and the courses arent very crowded. Nice late in the year too when it gets cold, nobody wants to play then either. Everybody wants it 70 and sunny, its not always going to be like that. Ill usually make sure ive got plenty of gatorade or water with me and try to pace myself more when it gets really hot, taking advantage of every big tree on course to find some shade. Once i get out there playing i dont really notice the heat except for excessive sweating, wipe it off and keep playing.

C'mon man...... the good ole austin winds started kicking up again. I think since last monday the weather has been amazing. The weather in the morning rocks. It's just weird that 4-6pm seems to be the hottest time of the day now.... instead of the usually brutal 1-3.

And I'm walking every time I go out. The only thing that sucks is my stupid golf tan...... and here I was thinking tennis was the the sport with the worst tan lines......

Besides... with the super dry fairways the way they are I'm feeling like a man hitting 200 yard drives that roll out to 300.

And now theres nothing to be disappointed abotu when hitting into the trees. I welcome shade!

temperature wise it's not as hot here in Florida as y'all get in Texas and AZ but I grew up in Dallas and as far as I can tell it's just about as hot here. It's just a different heat but no matter what you don't want to be outside in it..........I do however play at 11am on Fridays because I'm a cheap bastard!!

It doesn't get as hot here as it does where you guys are but when the heat does get up I've found that climate specific clothing works wonders. I've got an adidas climacool shirt that I always wear when it's really hot and never have a problem with excessive sweat.

I also try and wear a visor instead of a cap so my head doesn't get too hot and the sun's still off my face (my hair is ridiculously thick so I don't have to worry about a sunburned scalp).

My hands aren't usually too bad with sweat but taking my glove off between shots usually helps to keep it pretty dry.

Play early......I try to get out by 7:30 am in the summer. Done before noon even on a slow day. Ride if you can. If you can't or just prefer not to, break out the umbrella to keep the sun off you. Multiple gloves and I remove my glove after every shot. Lots 'o water and save the beer for the clubhouse. Hat and sunscreen are a must.

Given the choice of too hot, or too cold, I'll take hot any day!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Somone once told me that "it's too hot to golf".. obviously wasn't a golfer. I remember a round in Abilene, TX where it was 116 in the shade. One of my best rounds, the ball rolled a mile on the concrete.. I mean fairway! I'm trying to get used to the humidity here in Houston, I take a towel specifically for the sweat and a separate one for the clubs. So far so good.

2nd coldest July on record here in SE Michigan. About 82 today and 5 day forecast is high 70s no rain. Haven't had a rain cancellation yet this year but courses have been soaking up everything drop that falls. The payback will probably be this winter.

Ah, Texas weather... for the past week it seems like it has rained everyday, but we find a way to play between the storms. Grass is a little long, no roll, and humidity unusually high. July was wet and hot, like playing in a greenhouse with the blow drier on. You could almost hear the grass growing.

But here is the secret: drink water constantly, and keep a face towel in your ice bucket. Nothing better than an ice cold wet towel on your head and neck between shots. Feels like great.
