Getting a new putter mine was 40 bucks brand new at the local sporting goods store and I just can't get rhythm with it.. But I like the orginal shape so I looked into 2 putters that my brother has. So it's either a Scotty Circa 62 for 150 or an odyssey white hot #2.. or if anyone wants to throw out any other recommendation that would be helpful as well..

PS: Why are scotty's so much money??? Something around that price I hope it just makes the putt for you.. or is it because Tiger uses one?

I have played with a variety of putters including both Scotty Cameron and Odyssey. Honestly, Scotty just makes a putter that sets up better for me and considering mine is custom it has been hard to switch from it. I tried changing to a 2 ball in the last few months but ultimately went back to my Cameron.

If your brother has both of those, I'd say ask him to borrow each of them, and try them both out to see which one you prefer. I've putted with a Scotty in a store, I own a Oddessy White Hot Rossie, but right now, I'm using an older Ping Anser. They all have their strengths, and there were qualities about each one that I really liked. If I were forced to choose, I might as well flip a quarter. Just try them all out, and one will jump at you for some reason, though that reason may be different than why it would jump at others.

Also check out Pings putters, and a lot of people on here like the Yes! putters, and the SeeMore putters. It's just kind of a personal piece of equipment, ya know what I mean??

I perfer the Scotty, I currently use a Circa 62, I am not a fan of the inserts in putters. It is very much personal perference and like controljunkie said, try them both out on the course if you can, that is the one way to know for sure what works best for you.

This decision really boils down to you. What your preferences are and how they feel in your hands. I started the year with a White Hot Tour #2 but just couldn't get used to the feel of the insert. I'd never had an insert putter before so it was worth a try.

I just switched to a Cameron last week (got it new for $225!). I'd never had one of those before either but I'm really liking it. I got the feel back that I lost w/the insert and it sets up really nice. It's a few grams heavier than my WHT #2 as well, which I like (but could be easily duplicated w/lead on the WHT). Chances are I'll stick w/the Cameron for quite a while. It is a very nice piece of equipment.

Check out the Cleveland Classic series ( http://www.golfsmith.com/products/CL...Classic_Putter ). Great feel, no insert, great price. Worth a look if nothing else.

I have the Cleveland Classic 1 and love it.

Preference. I've never cared for inserts, so I tend to shy away from Odyssey putters.

You could also consider Bettinardi putters - they're going inexpensively these days - or even some of the TaylorMade Rossas.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Try them both out. Personally I prefer mallet-style putters over blade-style putters.

I like the alignment benefits the mallet putters provide as well as the stability. Some people, on the other hand, talk of the "feel" of blade putters, particularly Scotty Camerons. Of course, Odyssey make both blade and mallet putters.

I recently bought the Sabre Tooth putter - the one Rocco Mediate made famous with his close tournament against Tiger Woods.

Anyway this is a great putter!!! The weight is placed around the sides which provides greater MOI and helps to keep putts nice and straight - it also has the alignment benefits of two-ball putters with the ball shape "teeth" behind the putter face.

I recommend trying this putter - I have seen immediate improvement in my putting, and now I regularly make two putts, rarely hit the three putt region.

Good luck finding the one you like!

Just do it!

TaylorMade Rossas +1. My brother just bought the Rossa Monza Spider - brilliant putter (not as good as the Odyssey Sabretooth though )

I just switched to a Cameron last week (got it new for $225!).

Man, where did you get a deal like that???

Another point I wanted to add - after using both the Oddessy and the Anser, I can see keeping 2 putters, and alternating them, depending on where I'm playing and what the speed of the green is. There's been times with the Anser where I was playing on a course with faster greens, when I found myself wishing I had the Oddessy with me instead. I've also had times on slower greens, when I wish I had the Anser with me instead of the Oddessy. It's probably more of a mental crutch, but I felt like the face insert allowed me to be slightly more aggressive on those faster greens, where I'd have a tendency to hold back some, and not putt as well.

I had a couple different putters, I prefer the insert rather than milled steel/blade putters. But its completely a personal preference.

It doesn`t matter how much it costs or looks like,it`s about getting it in the hole.I`ve tried just about every putter made, have about 10 right now,and if my head`s right, they all putt the same,in the hole. Find one you like, and go with it!

One thing I like about non-insert blade putters is that they allow me to have better speed control. I still have my mallet because it might work for me again if my current putter craps out on me.
