Any of ya ever had any supremely lucky bounces? I'm talking stuff like pulling a shot into a tree, and magically ending up 3ft from the pin? I've had a few here and there, like slicing a shot into the trees and somehow ending up in the center of the fairway, but my last "luck shot" really takes the cake.

Par 5, just over 500 yards to the pin.. I nail the drive, about 270yds and center fairway. Now I'm in my weak zone-3w/long irons, big green with the perfect slope to catch the ball, but I have a huge water hazard in front. I decided not to go for it and lay up to the left side of the water, and pitch from the rough. Hit the 3w solid, about 80% and connected reaaally well. Aim was slightly off, however, and I'm seeing my ball head right to the left side of the water hazard. This is where it goes crazy! I made a direct hit to the front let side of the water hitting a rock. The ball bounces up high, lands and hits the back center rocks around the hazard, and then proceeds to bounce softly onto the green about 10ft from the pin!! My short game is my strong point so I'm looking at a very makable putt for eagle! I lost focus, being that this would have been my first eagle ever, and left the put about 1ft short, and tapped in for birdy...

as the rule in poker goes - and probably golf.. Better lucky than good!

Just yesterday, i hooked an approach way left of a green and had it hit a tree. It ricocheted to about 8-10 feet from the hole. Made the birdie putt and went on to shoot -2 34 for the nine holes.

I had a really low lofted 4 iron from the fairway that sailed about 3 feet off the ground the whole way to the green. It slowly curved right, directly for the sandtrap, hit the ground, hopped the sand trap, smacked into the rake and kicked left up onto the green about 10 feet from the hole.

rules of golf

There are only two kinds of bounces. Unlucky ones and ones that "you meant to play it that way"

Yesterday, I had a terrible bounce. 200 yard par 3 8th hole. pin middle right hand side, I hit it and it faded a touch to the left towards the left edge of the green, I am thinking on, or a chip and putt type situation. Hits the ground under repair portion of the green (front left corner of the green and bounced HARD to the left and came to rest directly behind a huge green side tree that caused me to chip to the back portion of the green and left it 15' from the pin

I was on pace to have a great round (for me) and the double killed my score.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

i had a hole about a month or six weeks ago where my drive was left and caught some tree limbs about 230 yards out, and the limbs happened to throw it forward and right, towards the hole. the slope of the fairway turned it even more towards the green, leaving me a chip of about 30 yards after the ball had rolled out (hole is only about 295 long). well, i turned right around and flubbed the hell out of my chip shot, too, hitting behind it, but it caught some kind of strange bounce on the way to the hole that propelled it forward a bit, and the ball goes straight into the cup for an eagle. two terrible shots, and i get an eagle out of the deal. i could only shrug and say to myself "that's golf."

Hate to admit it but on my one and only hole in one! The green sits in the side of a hill, I pulled my shot, hit the side of the hill. The ball bounces straight right, rolls across the green, and into the cup.

I head this past week, a lady playing a par three hit a rake on the side of a bunker and it popped over the mounded slope sideways and went in the hole for a hole in one. Yes, Virginia, not all bounces in golf are bad.

Par 3 tee shot. 3 hybrid from elevated tee to elevated green since an arroyo(glorified ditch) runs through the middle of the hole. No idea how but I hit my tee shot straight down, my ball hits the concrete part of the arroyo 130 yards away and bounces straight up landing on the green 10 feet from the hole. The elevation from the arroyo to the green is about 50 feet. Needless to say even with that luck I two put for par.

years ago i was on a short par 4 and had 120 to the pin. I was borrowing the club pro's wedges. hit a SW and it hit the lip of the green side bunker and shot left, took the break and went it. only time in the 17 years i have been golfing i have holed a shot farther than 100 yards.. don;t they say it's better to be lucky than good.. haha man i love this game

I've had my ball bounce back and forth over a creek without going in before.

On a course I used to play when I was just starting out (read huge slices) there is a par 5 on the front 9 that has a thick forest running down the right hand side. It was quite common for me to hit a huge slice that went into the trees and bounced back out onto the fairway.

Only eagle of my life...
At Wedgewood, in Olive Branch, MS; the first hole is a par5 (I don't remember the yardage). The cart path crosses the fairway about halfway to the green. I hit a HUGE slice off the tee, which ended up in the road which parallels the first hole. Ball gets hit by a (moving) car tire, which sends it back to the fairway, hitting the cart path and bouncing to within 40 yds of the green. I bump&run; it to within 5 ft, and actually make the putt!

OK, didn't happen to me, but I was there when it happened.

In my regular foursome, one guy was lining up to chip, another buddy was already on the green and fixing a ball mark.

First guy chips the ball right as the guy fixing the ball mark stands up. He mishits it terribly and sends it like 45* right, clips my friend's hip and rolls about 30 feet into the cup.

I was playing with my buddy and his dad once (probably ten years ago), and I was standing by my ball on the right edge of the fairway (about 250 yards from the tee). My buddy's dad had hit his drive about 170ish and in the left rough. So basically, his second shot was a mess, and I hear "FORE!" while I'm standing by my ball. I instinctively put my right hand (which was holding my wedge) in front of my eyes (I was wearing sunglasses) and began to turn my head. His ball nailed my grip, just inches away from my eyes. I'm serious, that ball could have blinded me.

Oh, so the point of the post, relative to the thread.

His ball was now in the fairway.

I was the lucky bounce.
