off a 3rd practice swing ...haha

I was waiting on forward groups so what the hell.

the tee box was behind this one, it carried the green and sand shot in the air(aerated)

Cool.

It's funny how tempting it can be.

I used to be a member of Farmville CC in Farmville, NC. The opening hole is a short par 4 that tempted all the guys I played with. It was very tight and tree lined on both sides.

A 5 iron tee shot would set us up for a wedge/short iron approach....but we almost always tried to bust a long drive with a slight fade...... . I drove that sucker a few times, but never eagled it.

Fast forward a couple of years and I moved and joined Jones Creek CC here in Augusta. The first hole (it's now the 10th) is a short par 4...tree lined on both sides with the fairway in a little valley. It sets up great for a large powerful drive with a slight fade. Same song and dance. Have driven it but never eagled. A long iron is the play...let it funnel off the right-side mounded "speed slot" and it'll squirt forward and back to the fairway. A 180 yard shot will turn into 230 with ease.

My home course has one hole that temps the guys I play with....number 8 Pine View. I'm under no illusion that I'll drive it so I don't even try, however it's fun to watch a couple of the longballers give it their best.

Short par 4 risk/reward holes are tons of fun to me. I tip my hat to the course designers who give us these.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
