This year I've had problems with my pinky and ring finger on my left hand (I'm RH) being extremely sore after golfing. I'm sure this is arthritis as it's always run in my family. So I've ordered a magnetic golf bracelet (snake oil) to see if this will do anything for me. It doesn't really bother me when I golf or in my day to day activities, but it's become quite painful to play guitar which I have an entirely different life story I won't bore anybody with. Did I just waste $15?..or might I get anything out of it? Anybody have first hand experience?

If you like the look of the bracelet/placebo, $15 isn't a lot of coin. I suspect it's the guitar playing - I had similar problems with my wrists - I assume it's an acoustic!?!?

15 huh...I was looking at sabona bands and they where like 80. I have hurd mixed reviews about the magnetic bracelets. but I like the styles enough that if it didn't work I would be okay with spending the money. It's all about what you are willing to spend should it NOT work.

Is there even a proved scientific or medical basis for these bracelets??
From a medical point of view, these bracelets are nothing but scam.

Yes but is there any medical reviews to say that it doesn't work. Funny thing is I just read a book called Easing Pain with your mind. It talks about back pain mainly but the doctor says that if you really believe that something is helping with your pain that it probabaly will help. If you can train your mind to think the pain isn't there it won't hurt. Keep in mind its more for back pain and joint pain. If someone walks up and hits you with a hammer its still going to hurt. So maybe although medically it doesn't work but mentally it may help a lot.

Actually, there are:

http://www.sillybeliefs.com/magnets.html http://www.quackwatch.com/04Consumer...QA/magnet.html There are more, this is just a sample. To the OP - instead of relying on voodoo snake oil, just see your doctor. Find out for certain what is bothering you. Then, find a medically sound way to treat the condition. Anything else is just a waste of money.

One of the pros at our club insists on wearing these 24/7. When I asked him about them, he told me they "absorb extra humidity from your body". I didn't even try to argue since I know this person is one of the most uneducated and stupid in the club. He actually believes that ancient Egyptians built an underground tunnel that extends all the way from Alexandria to the pyramids in Giza (300 KMs) and by walking that tunnel, people can cover that distance in 20 minutes or less. Of course, according to him, the government denies the existence of such tunnel.

I really wanted to tell him that Alexandria didn't even exist at the time of Ancient Egyptians but I knew it would be worthless.

Oh how silly -- everyone knows that tunnel runs directly to Area 51....
