I am going to buy my wife a set of hybrid irons, but I dont know if I should have steel or graphite shafts. Can someone explain the differences and what you would recommend for her. She has a 40 hand.

My gf just bought some Adams clubs and got the graphite shafts and she loves them. She had an older set of steel shafts and the new ones with the graphite are alot nicer for her. The biggest diff is that they are lighter.

IMO go with graphite. Plus i think most womens sets are graphite, might be hard to find steel.

graphite shafts in general are lighter, making it so you can swing them faster. They also reduce vibration so if you have arthritis they are wonderful.

steel shafts you swing a tad slower, but you have more control.

I would go graphite, lighter flex (generally) and a better launch angle (generally) for hi handicappers.

    • Ok, it's been a while, but I finally got the 18th hole! It was the only one left over from last year and it took 14 months, but I got it today. It is a slight dogleg right, plays 425 up to an elevated green into the prevailing wind. Playing slightly up, I hit driver and had about 160 into the green. Hit 6 iron to 4 feet and with a straight uphill putt made it center cut! Now I can stop thinking about that hole!  All I have left this year is 5, 15, and 17.  Let's Go!
    • He’s just tired of fighting. And being asked. And just tired.
    • Yeah, that's what most of the guys there were saying. I'm guessing they weren't able to cut them due to all the rain. Or maybe they are growing really fast and since we tee'd off at 6PM... 😜
    • Frankly, one could be forgiven for thinking there was some truth to the rumor as seemed like he was laying the groundwork for a while with his softened stance on LIV.
    • Well, Rory nipped those rumors in the bud: Rory McIlroy: 'I'll play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career' - world number two dismisses LIV Golf link Rory McIlroy says he will play on the PGA Tour "for the rest of my career" as he quashes rumours of him making a big-money move to LIV Golf. I suppose you never know, but it's a stark contrast from how, for example, Cam Smith handled the rumors. Feeling much better about this today.
