I went to Golfsmith to buy a Odyssey 2ball and walked out with a Scotty Cameron KOMBI 35". I love the feel and the sound of this putter.
I won't be asking for gimmies.

Glad you got a wand that inspires confidence.

I messed around with a Kombi in a local golf shop a few weeks ago.

That thing set up and aligned automatically. I have a Red X3 that I thought lined up easily....the Kombi takes it a couple of steps further.

Rolling the rock with confidence is key. Have fun with it.

I just ordered a Newport 2 and it should be here by the end of the week ...

... the odd thing is that I began the season with an older 35.5" Anser 3 that I closeted 2 weeks ago to use a cut down 34" Nike Tiempo. I was just starting to putt okay with the Nike, but one of my friends has a Newport 2 which I've used prior to the last few rounds and then for an hour-long session on the practice green. The view at address, balancing and feel were noticeably better ... and I've always tended to think that the pro Scotty folks were really just blind Scotty prophets.

**Update** No Scotty coming for me now ... The Ebay auction stated the putter I won was 34" but the seller discovered it was 35" and informed me before shipping. For $215, I should have my preferred specification so I'll likely agree to a full refund ... what a let down though.

I'll prolly get a Scotty for next season as I only have another month of playing in my season anyway.

Could also be he wasn't happy with what you paid and thus decided to find a way around you leaving him negative feedback by opting out of selling it to you.

I've seen this type of trick - and others - used by sellers who like to get top dollar for their stuff.

You know I thought of this but this seller is as reputable as you can find on Ebay - if that's worth anything - and has let his wares go at good prices before, so I didn't think that was it though you never know. Normally the same putter goes on Ebay for approx. $30 more ... though I will monitor this seller to see if the same putter (with an identifier) comes on in the near future. In the end, the $$$ isn't important. I work 80 hrs a week eating hospital food far too often so that I can afford to splurge on myself every now and then. I was very VERY excited after (1) some improvement putting after increased practice in this area and (2) the prospect of getting a Scotty at a decent price (the bargain accentuates the purchase). Overall, this was just a big let down. We'll see how I putt Saturday with thoughts of "what could of been" in my mind ... lol! I'll end up with a Scotty next Spring regardless.

Never thought I'd buy a Scotty but did and love it. It is a little like learning how to putt all over again though.

i recently picked up the studio style in almost new condition and it is night and day from the taylormade rossa modena i was using. the roll is really amazing how it comes off the head when you hit it true, the swing weight makes it feel like you just can't put a bad stroke on it...and of course the confidence factor i don't know it seems like those 15-20 footers are starting to drop more and more. i told myself i wouldn't buy a scotty till i was any good, i've only been playin for a little over a year, but from what i've read if you're going to invest into any club in the bag, you should spend it on a putter...and i found a good deal on it from someone local so i pulled the trigger.

haha nice, it just occurred to me actually to do it like that after a day where the putter saved my score. i always see everyone starting with the driver. maybe it will catch on as a new trend!

That sucks, hope you get it soon.

Btw, do they sell Scotty headcovers for a reasonable price? The three dot red on grey thing they stuck on my Newport is just bad looking, but I don't plan on spending a lot on this. A good looking headcover would be nice.

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
