The US women look rediculous with the facepaint... why would you want to look like a 7th grader on national TV? I just don't understand, it isn't intimidating and seems like it would be annoying to wear for 12+ hours. None of the Europeans do it... but I am pretty sure the only 3 Americans who didn't participate in such absurdity were Morgan, Julie, and Christie. As much as I want them to win, if they do loose tomorrow... I will be thinking, "well that's what you get for looking like an idiot."

I think all of those things can be accomplished without looking like a 7th grade cheerleader.

I completely agree, I think they look like grown children instead of professional adults. But of course I still hope they take home the Cup.

As much as I want them to win, if they do loose tomorrow...

You don't want them looking like a seventh grader? But you spell like one? If they do "loose"?

Anyway, who cares. The women have to promote themselves. If they want to play up the fact that they're female, who cares? Every one of 'em could whip you. Even Juli Inkster with her constant topping and shanking.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

It does not bother me but it does seem a little imature. On the other hand, if it appeals to teen agers then it's good for the LPGA.

Let's see.....you have a team of young gals....amoung the best in the world in their sport....competeing against like talent.....raised in a country that embraces individuality and freedom of speech and expression........adreneline is flowing....friendships are being forged under intense pressure.............the crowd is pumped and the atmosphere electric......heck, I even saw one of them do the silly Camillo Vejayjay spider thing.

Yup there is some aggresive high 5s, arse spanking, dancing and fist pumping. I say let 'em wear their war paint and get their game on. After all they were each others "cheerleaders" yesterday. It will be interesting to see how they go it today, in the singles matches.

I don't get it either. I don't watch the event (BTW, if you want to promote the women's game, maybe put it on actual TV) but saw a few photos. Looked pretty silly to me.

It does not bother me but it does seem a little imature.

I would bet that is part of the reason...to get the younger audience.

...I say let 'em wear their war paint and get their game on.

If they want to, I don't have a problem with it. I just think it looks silly.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I think it is very immature! However, with that being said, I get why they do it! And I know for a fact that it helps promote their sport. I have an 11 yr old niece and she has been glued to the TV for the past 3 days. Guess what caught her eye??? The childish face paint! Go figure!

If it gets more young people interested in the game it can only be a plus!

When I saw that I called my wife over and said "This is why women's golf can't be taken seriously."

That being said, I NEVER watch women's golf and am rivited (must be my patriotism coming through). Still, they hit some horrible shots out there.

Considering the current situation the LPGA is in, i´m not sure, if being appealing to teenagers (with their limited budget) might be the best idea...

The face paint builds camaraderie and plays a small part to help bring together people used to having to perform as individuals in the sport to now perform as a team and to support one another.

I like it because it helps make the Americans appear and behave as I would expect in a fun event like this.

yeah, the whole bringing teens into the game is a great point. Anything that gets kids involved in golf is a good thing. Also, in the end I don't care THAT much, but I do think it is silly looking. I wonder if they are encouraged to wear it by the team captains or promoters, or if they just all get togather before the cup starts and go face paint shopping.

The face paint, hair coloring, John Daly and Ian Poulter's pants. All add some style, just as long as everybody doesn't do it.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
