I'm an admitted habitual loser of golf clubs. I've left a 6-iron at a driving range, and at least once during a round one of my playing buddies will ask who's wedge is laying over on the fringe -- it's always mine.

Anyway, playing a round recently, I left a wedge next to the green, went on to the following tee box, and a player from the foursome behind us comes running up to the tee box to bring it to me.

That was one of the top 'nice guy' moments I've ever had on the golf course.

Let's hear your nice guy stories, or if you are one of the nice guys, brag on yourself.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Left an 8 iron and went back to look for it. The guy and his girlfriend behind us with his long braded goatee, shaved head, tennis shoes, and tattoos stopped their game altogether until the helped me find it.

I have found 3 clubs. I usually ask the group ahead of us since it's most likely theirs. If not I put it in my bag until I see the ranger or get to the clubhouse so I can turn it in. Everytime I have found one though someone ahead of us has claimed it or been back looking for it.

I know I wouldn't want someone to snag mine and just keep it.

Always turn it in to the pro shop. Karma.

I left my wedge on the green once. Drove back to look, nothing. Asked every one i saw, nothing. Went to the pro shop, nothing. Called the pro shop the next day, nothing.

Even though karma ignored me, I will always turn it in.

When I find a wedge on the green I always put it in the basket behind the seat. I never put it in my bag. I don't want anyone to accuse me of trying to steal a golf club.

I use the "club caddy". Best $20 I ever spent. Not only does it keep my grips dry but it makes it almost impossible to not see your wedge "standing up" on the green when you leave the hole.

I ALWAYS turn clubs into the clubhouse or ask the group ahead of me if it's theirs... unless it's a good club, then it goes on eBay.

Just kidding of course. I always try to find the owner of clubs. No sense in being a jackass and taking the "finders keepers" mindset that most idiots take.

We found a money clip -- that's all, no ID -- with $1,100 in it. Called the proshop (at a sketchy Muni) and told them that if someone came in there in a panic to call my cell #. The proshop wanted to know what it was we found and to turn it into them. HELL NO! I knew what would happen then, for sure.

So the guy calls, sure enough, and ID's the amount and the clip. We are on 18 and tell him we'll see him at the green. He takes a cart and drives on the to the fairway anyway. I hand him the clip. He counts it right in front of me, jumps in his cart, and drives off. No 'thank you' - nothing.

Now...

I've left clubs behind including in the parking lot (oops) and have always had them returned. I turn in whatever I find even little things like divot tools and ball markers. Who knows, they may have sentimental value to someone.

priceless. i must say that i encounter people that have that attitude when you are being generous all the time. for example, walking down a main isle at the supermarket, and a lady comes out of a side isle without looking, ill say "go ahead" and nothing (im sure she drives her car the same way) and all i can say is "your welcome".

Morons are everywhere. Some people just have a sense of entitlement that they are better than anyone else around them.

Last week i found a brand new nike putter and head cover laying next to the green. I pick it up and put it in my bag and figured i'd just drop it off at the clubhouse when i go past it next. The guy who lost it comes walking back the hole asking if i found a putter so i give it to him out of my bag and he swore at me and said i shouldnt of touched it! What a !@#$!!!.

And what was your response to him being an idiot? Not sure what I would have said, but I am guessing it begins with an "F" and ends with a "YOU."

I've turned in a wedge, and I let faster people play through. I only pick up balls that I know beyond a doubt are not being played, and I try not to stare at beer-girls' boobs for too long. I clean my trash out of the cart after a round... gee, I should get a merit badge or something.

I've always turned the stuff I find in and have always gotten my stuff back. If someone ever got pissy with me over picking their club up when their nowhere around I'd be giving them an ear full.
