I use 56* 58* and 60* wedges. I noticed I have a large gap in distances between my PW 135 yds and my 56* 90-100yds. Is this yardage gap necessary to fill? I rarely find myself at that distance, but I am <100yds a lot

PW* 120-135yds
56* 90-100 yds
58* 70-80 yds
60* 40-60 yds

Any thoughts

Id suggest adding a 52* and removing the 60*. IMO, there is no reason to carry both a 58* and 60*.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Personally, I'd store the Eye2 56* and the 60* in the garage or basement for future pondering.

I'd keep the Cleveland classics 58* and add a similar style of gap/sand wedge (like a 52* Cleveland or vokey). The Ping sand wedge is one of the fugliest irons I've ever seen. But hey, maybe that's just me.

You could do something like 50*, 54*, and keep the 58

It does look like your lofts are compressed.

I like having them spaced out to allow more full or 3/4 shots that fill the yardage gaps nicely.

I have finally settled down with my current set and am very pleased with the results.

The only reason I carry the eye 2 SW is: I love this club, I only hit it out of the sand, and I am really good with it. I am not married to the 60*, but I did just buy the 58*. I like the 58, so Ill try to open it up a little and practice my 60yds in shots with it. Im thinking of a 52*, keeping my 56* and 58*. Any thoughts on this?

Should work just fine. I usually carry a 52* and a 58*, but sometimes I add a dedicated 56* SW. Even with only 2* difference the 56* and 58* are very different clubs with different uses.

I had a big gap between PW and SW as well, so since I had a 5 wood, I got a set of irons that was 4-AW (approach wedge, same as gap wedge) instead of 3-PW, and it's working out great. Did that to fill the gap and also leave a slot open for a LW, which I'm hopefully getting in a few days. I love the AW, it is my go-to club from 140 yards.

I prefer using 4 wedges. Currently using a 46* PW, 50* AW, 54* SW, and a 58* LW.

Gives me a lot of full swing yardages, and options around the greens. If I played a course where my strategy needed another wood or iron, I'd probably ditch the AW.

Sorry for switching gears a bit, but with wedges... I also like to keep consistency with the shafts, and grips. My wedges should be the same shaft as my iron set... Project X, KBS, DG, whatever. It's a good idea to have consistent grip type and size throughout the set and wedges. Lastly, the shaft lengths should be stepped down in length in equal increments from 3-LW.

Most people get wedges ala carte and don't put enough thought to fit and consistency.

My AP1 PW is 45* and my W is 50*. I'm thinking about buying a 52* Vokey and that will give me 45* 50* 52* and 56*.
I'll take out my 60*

Having a 54* and a 58-60* make the most sense. Wow, did not realize how strong the lofts are in the AP1's.

Be careful. When you alter loft, you're going to change the bounce.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
