I use the Noodle Softest ball. I like the feel of the ball off the club, distance is good, trajectory is high, price is low and it does well around the greens. I can get some backspin on it - not a ton, but a little bit.

I've also recently tried the Bridgestone E6 ball and liked it very much - but not sure it will replace my Noodle Softest ball, yet.

What I Play:

Driver: R9 460
4 Wood: G15

Hy: Callaway FT 3Hy

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

Putter: Newport Studio Select 2.7

Ball: Nike One Vapor

I like both of those.

New Top Flites are great balls. If you like Wilson, check out the Eco Core (Walmart carries them in Canada). I tried these just for the heck of it (the core is made from recycled tires). It was actually good, both performance and durabilitywise.

I've experimented over the last few months, and for the moment I have settled on the Top Flite D2 Feel and the Srixon Soft Feel.

I've also got a few Nike Power Distance Soft that I like too.

I have been trying out most premium balls this year. I don't like the nike balls but the others are excellent (bridgestone, callaway, titleist and taylor made). I just bought a box of Srixon Z-stars to try out.
As far as mid range balls go I don't think you can beat the srixon ad333 or soft feel.

This season I have played mostly with the Bridgestone Tour B330. I used to play the Pro-V1x, but after getting new wedges I cut the covers too much. I feel that I get the same feel/distance/action across the board w/ the Bridgestones that I got w/ the Titleists but the covers hold up MUCH better for me.

I just recently got a dozen Callaway Tour iX that I am going to try out. A local golf store here is going out of business and had a huge sale. They had balls for 30% off, but Callaway was about the only thing left when I got there. So I'm going to see how those work for me the next month or so!

You will love those callaways, but the wedge shreds them easily also.

Pro V1x

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

I use the intech beta ti balls from walmart. They're cheap($10 for 24) but they play pretty well for an inexpensive ball, good distance and just as straight and accurate as any other ball I play, though I am a high handicapper so playing a premium ball doesnt help much. I've played a few of about every kind as I've bought used balls off ebay. But I think i'll just stick with my intech balls. And at just over 40 cents a ball, if I lose one, no big deal.

For the most part, I use Noodles b/c they're at the top of the ball pocket. I haven't gone out and experimented with different brands.
Cheers!

Last couple of months I've been loving the ProV1 balls. I've never felt more confidence in a ball around the greens. I'm sold on this beauty. I cringe at the thought of buying them full price....so I'll keep an ebay deal in the works for the new 2009 PRACTICE version to maintain a supply.

Prior to that I gamed the Bridgestone E5+ and the Noodle Long & Soft with an occasional dozen of Callawy HX Hot Bites, Nike One Vapor, Bridgestone B330 RX and Top Flite Gamers.
