Haven't had any trouble to date, but i just got my first cameron. Thinking about putting a headcover of a lesser value putter so not to attract unwanted attention when left unatteneded. Saw a playing partner do it and seemed prudent.

Good idea or am i being paranoid?

I dunno, I use all of the stock headcovers on my clubs, as long as you keep an eye on your clubs they should be safe. Just don't let your bag out of site and you'll be fine. If you have to use the restroom or something, put them in your car till you get back or have a friend watch them if you're not by yourself.

It never hurts to be prudent. I'm careful with my gps unit. It's the single highest dollar item I have and due to it's small size it would be very easy for someone to make off with it and no one ever be none the wiser. So I don't pull it out of my bag until I head to the first tee and if I stop at the turn or otherwise leave my bag away from me for any lenght of time I'll put it up in my bag. Putters too can be high dollar but it would be harder for someone to steal unless your bag is left out where no one else is around. Doing the headcover switch would be a good way to avoid unwanted attention. You could also make it a point to leave your bag in places where you can keep a close eye on it.

I have had a wedge and cell phone stolen. Get a Dunlop putter cover from Walmart!

This thread makes me realize how fortunate I am to live in a part of the world where you can leave your things unattended and expect them to be there when you return. I freaking HATE thieves, and think they should be shot on sight.

Never had a problem, however, I leave my bag where I can see it when I duck into the clubhouse.

This time of year I generally have an extra towel to dry off my face and hands...I'll throw this over the top of the bag to air out if I stop at the turn for any reason.

Right now I'm gaming the headcovers that came with my sticks.

I tend to be more careful on courses i dont know and keep an eye on my stuff but on my home course i´m really not concerned at all. I just leave my stuff (even my rangefinder on the outside) at the range or the practice area and go for lunch or leave it in front of the restaurant - never had taken anything from me.

Once my pocket pc dropped out of my bag on a course i played regullary during holidays. I really gave up on finding it ever. Next day one of the greenkeepers approaches my, trying to gesticulate he found it and i could pick it up at the caddy shack - that kind of honesty really amazed me.

I've got Ga. Bulldog headcovers...no one in Bama wants them. All kidding aside, better safe than sorry. If its a problem in the area, no caution is too much and opportunity can make many a men into a thief.

Pffft I only ever steal putters with old headcovers on them.

But seriously, if you think it could be a problem it probably wouldn't hurt. Nothing's going to be better than keeping an eye on your bag though.

I'm lucky that I don't have to worry about it at my home course. Last week there was a convertible with the top down in the parking lot with the clubs just sitting in the front seat and a pickup truck with clubs lying in the back uncovered. Anybody could have just taken them but that sort of thing doesn't happen.

Who can blame 'em. What with the drubbing Auburn gets yearly I'd say Dawg headcovers would be a repellent (lets just pretend the Tide don't exist) for any wrongdoers.

I have some blank head covers from Dicks on all of my clubs. I usually zip up my rain cover if I have to run in the clubhouse for anything. I also keep a close eye on them. I am sure I haven't spend a third of some people have on here for clubs, but they are my pride and joy and I guard them with my life!

I always replace my putter head cover (with a University of Kansas headcover of course), the new covers are so bulky they don't fit in my pocket very well and the putter resale value is greater with the original head cover. That being said, I have no intention of ever getting rid of my Scotty, but some day my grandkids might want to sell it and it would be worth more......
