Any one have any input on this club? I got fed up with Golf Galaxy trying to fix the issues with my old callaway driver and am going to try out a new/used driver every other weekend. The guy said just keep bringing them back and you get store credit to try out another. If I dont stick with the Cleveland Im going to try a Taylor Made Burner 460 next. Kinda pissed they couldnt fix my driver, but at least I get to try out a bunch of different clubs until I can find the one.

I tried this out. I tried the 9* with stiff red shaft. It felt nice but I was slicing it, I think the fujikura shafts in those drivers play pretty stiff, especially the reds. Unless you are swinging 110+ I would demo the gold shaft. Otherwise it is a nice driver, classic looks and sound but nothing to get too excited about imo.

The 9* with the Red shaft is what Im using now. All the clubs Im going to demo are used. My SS is 105+ so this may be the one. We will see after I play tomorrow afternoon.

I've been gaming one of the drivers you mentioned, the TM R9 460. I've used it for a month and have pretty much given up on it. The club is dead. I mean it.

I've put some great swings on this club only to get moderate distances. It is forgiving enough, I suppose, but there just isn't much life in this stick. I have the stock RE/AX shaft.

The club left me so disapointed that I've searched for and won a Burner TP to match my beloved 3 wood. I'm gonna game it Monday and do a comparison between the two sticks.

Maybe others have had better results....but it's just not for me. The adjustability thing was neat to experiment with, however, I kept going back to neutral or just slightly opened (like the Burner TP model is anyway).

Good luck in your driver search. It's a tough thing to go through, sometimes. At least with putters you can fairly well evaluate in the store...mostly. Drivers are fickle.

I agree with the assessment of the stoutness on those Red shafts. I tried them with the HiBode Xl and they were just too boardy for my tastes.

Here's something amazing though, I have a friend who is using an 8.5º HiBore Xl with a Red stiff shaft, and his swing speed isn't over 100. And he loves it. So... to each his own. He just picked up a 9º Launcher with the stiff red, I haven't heard yet whether he likes it or not.

Well, after today's round, I think I have found my new driver. I misses most of my normal fairways because I was either too long or it was maybe 2-3 ft off the first cut. This driver is great for what I need right now. I got to the course and paid my normal $28...and then on the frist green I noticed they still looked terrible from arriation 2 months ago. I mean my putts would literally bounce over the holes. I had 39 putts today, career high. I was not happy and went back and demanded my money back after the first hole because they didnt say anything about the condition of the greens. They gave me some BS answer back about how they are not going to give me my money back. I hate the customer service at this course and will probably never go back. It has always sucked, but it is very open and forgiving....but I have to move on.

End Rant lol

  • 9 years later...

I got my hb launcher 9 degree loft today and I can say I've never sliced a driver like this one. I hit balls with my g25 and then with the launcher back and fourth and it is def going a long way right every time. I don't really even struggle with a slice.

Have the Exact same club and did the same thing first couple times. I think because it has a lighter shaft it caused me to open up a bit at contact. Anyway I started to swing a bit smoother and now going straight as an arrow now that I'm used to it. Also put one of those Allign grips on it. I am 10 yrds further than my buddy who opted for the Rogue and we hit the same distance before when we had the same driver.

I recently tried a Ping g410 from global golf and I’ve never hit a more forgiving club in my life. I think it does have a lot to do with the weigh you’re right. The launcher is very similar to my G25 in that they are both very light and I hit them similarly. I just hit the Ping better so there’s no reason of me keeping the launcher. I am most likely going to suck it up and buy a used G410 off of eBay and get my local fitter to spec me to it properly.

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
