Im talking about clubs people!

Anyways, my specs are 37.5 on the 6 iron and on the 57's they are 37.25 out of the box....

Wondering if this really makes a difference??

Thanks!

You could just choke up ever so slightly. Unless you're like a scratch golfer, I doubt they'll make much of any noticeable difference.

If you're buying them used, or on ebay, and you end up finding that it does make a difference, a quarter inch extension should take care of it quite easily. If you're buying these brand new, I'd suggest going through a full fitting though. Why not get it perfect from the very beginning?

If anything it could creep up on you and get to be a mental thing, especially after you hit your first fat or thin shot.

eexactly what he said.. if you start making bad shots, your mind will first turn to saying that its probably messing up because the shafts are a little to short for you, instead of your swing being wrong (which will most likely be the case)

Yea, thats what I figured, Im looking on ebay and they dont have any used that are a 1/4" long...

Honestly I really dont think a 1/4" will make a difference..... And I wont let that creep into my game, for the past 3 years ive played the wrong shaft, wrong head, wrong size clubs.....

Regular shaft, wrong lie angle and a half inch too short and Ive had some pretty good rounds....

So Im thinking a 1/4 doesnt make too big a difference.

Lie is probably more important huh?

Thanks!

First off, you may have shot some pretty good rounds with clubs that weren't perfect for you, but how do you know those rounds couldn't have been even better if you were using a well fitted club? Getting the proper fitting takes the guesswork out of it. If the sweet spot on the face of an iron is the size of a quarter, 1/4" becomes a little more than you might have originally thought.

Anyway, I believe length and lie are equally important and work in conjunction with each other.

both important, and yes they work into eachother. but if i could only choose one thing to get custom fit it would be lie over the length.

I don't think 1/4 inch is really going to make a difference. 1/4 inch is a pretty small amount, and a different fitter might fit you into standard, depending on the accuracy of his wrist to ground measurement of you on any given day. If you find a deal on standard length clubs, and really feel that the 1/4 inch is important, you should be able to extend them easily the next time you re-grip.

I would agree, unless you don't even hang on with your little finger you should be able to adjust your grip a 1/4 inch on your club.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

I agree as well...I had all of my clubs down 1/2" and I think it made such a slight difference...the good thing is I might hit 1 in 1000 a bit chunky...before it was about double that. Length wise...I don't think a 1/4" is going to make a difference. Now, on a putter, that makes all the difference in the world I think.
