Keep women on the LPGA where they belong. Michelle Wei has NOT proven herself in the least to compete on the PGA. She got humiliated at ehr home course. I would be embarassed if I were her. SHe needs to grow up and concentrate on her own tour.

Fair enough opinion, but you know every US major (Masters, US Open, PGA) is technically open to women as well, right?

It's just that they never qualify, nor are they ever granted a sponsor's exemption. The British Open would simply be following suit... I'm sure you read our story on this , right?

I agree, Eric. However, I am a big advocate of keeping women in the LPGA, Men in the PGA. Women just cannot compete with the ability and skill sets of men. Granted, I am sure there are a few out there that can put up a fight, but is it really worth it? What are the proving? Until a woman wins a PGA sanctioned event, I will stand my ground. I cannot see it happening anytime in the near future.

Considering both the British Open and US Opens are "Opens", the women would have to go through qualifiers to get into these tournaments. If they make it through the qualifiers then they very well can compete with the ability and skill sets of men. They aren't really trying to prove anything, they just want to see how good they are, and if I were a woman I would want to play in any of the male majors because they are the most famous golf tournaments in the world. The LPGA majors aren't nearly as well known, I think I only know one...the Kraft Nabisco one, whatever it is. I don't see why they should be kept on separate tours if they are good enough to play. Not many females have proven themselves in the tournaments they have played in, but they also haven't played in many. So far they have shown they are about as good as a mediocre male tour player, but those mediocre tour players are still on the tour and aren't criticized nearly as much as those women who have tried.

I can kind of understand why this is news, but there's always been a way for women to get onto the Open and onto Tour, Q-school. It's open to any man, woman, or child with $4500 to burn. Elizabeth Biesiegel tried it this year and didn't make it past the first phase. The day's going to come when a woman's good enough to make it through and gain full time status on Tour, and as long as they can compete that's fine with me.
