What is the strongest part of your game?

We always write about whats wrong with our game, here a chance to write about the strongest, best or favorite aspect of your game and why it is?

I will start off by saying that putting is the strongest part of my game, because I have found my putting stroke for distance control and for straight line putts. I feel that everytime that I step over a putt that I have a good chance of possibly making the putt, its also a frame of mind and confidence.

I attribute this to making rounds of 28, 27 and as low as 26 putts per round. I have days when I putt 34 or 35 but for the most part I can putt under 30.

I must disclosure that one putts and the ability to get up and down from around the greens have helped this putting stat.

Basic putting
1) proper grip and pressure
1a) gripping on the lifeline of your front hand to keep your wrist one piece
2) lowering my back shoulder
2a) this has help me keep my putter low to the ground on the backstroke and keep my line
3) smooth transition from backstroke or forward stroke
3a) at the transition its almost a pause similar to the backswing at the top
4) proper posture
4a) similar to the posture for hitting your irons allowing your arms to hang freely, butt stick out and back straight
5) distance from the ball
5a) preventing pulling or pushing putts
6) Distance control
6a) someone on had this forum had a tip for guaging distance on your putts. The tip was to use your rear feet location to help you guage the distance of your putts, inside of your rear foot, middle of your rear foot and outside of your rear foot
7) keeping the triangle from your shoulder and arms without breaking down the wrist
7a) this has help me with distance and short putts
8) Finding your own style
8a) Putting is so personal that you need to find what works for you with practice. I like to hold the putter out and with a slight forward press, I have found that I am more consist with my putts this way, find what works for you on straight putts where you can consistently make the straight putts without pulling or pushing putts.
9) Alignment and pre-putt routine
9a) have a pre-putt routine that you use on everyputt and make sure that property alignment is part of this routine.
10) Pratice and more practice
10a) putting is half your score so more time and effort should go into your putting, remembering that a 300+ drive and a 1 foot putt are the same stroke.

With solid putting, I have recently had rounds of 1 over and feel that shooting under is just the next round away.

Thanks in advance for sharing some positive aspects of your game with us.

My short game. I shot a 40 a couple days ago with 3 GIR, and no birdies. My short game really saved a lot of strokes. I had an up-and-down on 2 to save par, 5 to save par, and 6 to save bogey (blocked my tee shot right into the woods and ended up 20 yards away to a downhill green)

A close second would have to be my driving. I'm working hard on my driving lately, and it is paying off in numbers.

Most days, ball striking with full shots is the best part of my game.

I also play well in adverse conditions (wet, rainy, snowy, or windy)--doesn't seem to bother me much.

For me it's probably course management. I rarely make worse than a bogey. I've had some rounds where I struck the ball like crap with only 1-3 GIR for 9 holes, but I'll still usually keep my score near 40 or below.

I've learned to aim away from trouble, and I've also learned to control my misses, or at least to know which direction a miss will probably go. I've finally gotten to the point where hitting a ball OB is a rarity.

Same here. My drives are 210 if I hit it well so I work really hard on my short game to cancel out getting out driven every hole.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

My best clubs in my bag are my driver and 3w. I don't care how tight the fairway is, I know I can hit it and with distance. I love that no matter where I aim, I know it's not going left unless I really want it to. There is never any fear to hit a driver or 3-w off the deck.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee
