Hey yall, I was just thinking about when i'm out on the range and my routine. I always hit about 180 balls and my method is to start out with my wedges and work my way up to driver club by club (hit it until I get a few solid, confident shots with each) and then repeat the cycle. I was wondering if everyone notices a very significant increase in distance after they have gone through the set once or twice? And what If you dont have time to hit the range before a round, what do you do to warm up?

It probably takes 10 full shots before I really feel loosened up, even after stretching.

If I don't have the chance to hit the range before a round, I'll grab two wedges and try some big extended backswing/follow throughs along with some normal static stretching. Usually get some pop and snaps out of the back and shoulders, and feel decent. I'll go with something a little easier to hit like a hybrid if possible as well, versus a fairway wood or driver.

Surely you don't hit 180 balls as a pre-round warm-up?

ha, no, no way. that's on the days where I cant get out to play such as today, tons of rain from the hurricane in the gulf so I went to the range. just a bucket or two before a round (35-70 balls)

For some odd reason I might hit a couple wedges but 80% of the time I just like to stretch take some practice swings with my 4i and tee it up. It was a habit I got into when I was younger and never changed it.

I grab a couple long irons and swing them to warm up the muscles for a minute or two, I stretch (torso, legs, hip flexors, hands, wrists and arms) I hit a hand full of mid-irons, a couple 3-woods, a couple wedges and I',m good to go. If the course is new to me, I hit a few long irons and drivers to see what my go-to tee ball will be for the day. Distance-wise I do find that I need to take more club on the front nine than the back nine. By the 18th hole it could be a two club difference compared to the first hole - but this may be analogous to riding horses - on the way home, when they often get a burst of energy when they near the barn.

go to putting green roll 50 putts.
10 from 2ft, 10 from 5ft, 10 from 15ft, 10 from 20ft, 10 lag putts from 40+ft.
no practice swing as i tend to try and adjust myself by how i swing to find my tempo, this way it doesnt change, although i have to hit 3 iron of the par 5 first.

In my r7 tour bag using my tp red balls,
i use

After putting for 20 minutes or so, I always hit about 50-55 shots before playing. A normal breakdown would be:

I will hit about 10 shots with PW, then 10 with 8iron, then 5 with 6iron, 5 with 4iron, 5 with 2iron, 5 drivers and finally 5 SW. The next time I play, I will switch to odd numbered clubs... meaining: 10 shots with AW, then 10 with 9iron, then 5 with 7iron, 5 with 5iron, 5 with 3iron, 5 drivers and finally 5 SW
